Chapter 2

                                    

                                          
Chase turns on the sirens to his police vehicle and drives off to Main Street, to deal with the traffic jam. Soon he arrives upon Main Street to discover that it is totally wild. Cars honking their horns, drivers yelling at each other and people trying to drive onto the sidewalks to get out of the traffic jam. Chase pulls over on the sidewalk. 
"Ruff! Megaphone!" he barks. 
His megaphone emerges from his pup-pack. 
"Folks! Calm down! I'm here to break up this traffic jam!" Chase shouts out. 
"Phew! Howdy Chase!" Farmer Al waves from his truck. 
"Hey Farmer Al" Chase waves back. 
"Can you guys please back up?" 
A few cars back up and make a turn for another road. "Now wait there!" Chase commands. He orders a few more cars to back up.

Meanwhile at the Lookout, Ryder isn't feeling right. He and his other pups are watching the movie but for some reason he's feeling nervous about Chase. 
I shouldn't feel nervous about him being out there alone. He's a mature pup, he's not a little puppy who can't do anything for himself Ryder thinks.
But even though Ryder tries to tell himself that, something keeps telling him that he needs to be with Chase right now. 
"Ryder, are you okay?" Skye asks, noticing Ryder who is uneasy and quite tense. "I'm okay" Ryder strokes Skye on the head. Skye isn't so convinced that he's okay, but she decides that it's better to not keep asking him.

"Okay, now you cars wait here while the others drive past" Chase explains. A wave of cars drive freely along the road. Once they drive by, Chase says, "now you guys can go!" 
The cars then start driving on their way. Soon the traffic jam is cleared and Chase can now head home. Alone in the middle of the night on Main Street, Chase leaps in his vehicle and starts the engine. 
It's quiet and dark on the street. Everyone is in their houses asleep and now most cars aren't out anymore. Chase starts driving back to the Lookout. 
He wasn't paying attention to the road when his vehicle suddenly stops. He hears a sound that sounds like something popped or air is coming out of a balloon. Chase is unable to get his police vehicle to drive. So he leaps out to inspect the problem. 
Chase learns that all of his tires are flat. 
Before he could see what caused his tires to become flat, something or perhaps someone, grabs Chase. 
"Ahhhhhh!" Chase screams in horror.

"Ryder, why are you getting so stressed?" Marshall asks. "I don't know" Ryder says. His body was getting more tense by second. In fact, he was now sweating slightly, he was feeling sick to the stomach, he couldn't get Chase off of his mind, and his hands were shaking a little. 
It was as if his body was trying to tell him that something wasn't right with Chase right now. Ryder got up from his beanbag and turned on the light in the TV room. "Ryder? Why are you so nervous?" Rocky asks. "Dude, you're acting like Chase is a baby and he can't be out alone" Zuma says. 
"I never feel like this though, when you pups are outside alone. I don't know what's going on with me. Something keeps telling me to go check on Chase" Ryder goes to the bathroom and washes his face to cool down. 
He takes in a deep breaths, trying to calm down his nerves. "Chase is okay. Chase is okay. He's not a puppy. He can look out for himself. He's okay. He's okay" Ryder says calmly to himself. 
But that doesn't work either. Ryder emerges from the bathroom and into the TV room where the pups are waiting. "That's it. I don't know what's going on with me, but I'm going to check on Chase" Ryder finally makes his decision. 
He leaves the Lookout and heads down to his garage to get on his ATV. Ryder hops on and puts his helmet on. 
Then he drives off. 
Just when he was heading to Main Street to check on Chase, he comes to a halt at Chase's police vehicle which was is sitting on the road, without Chase inside. 
Ryder takes off his helmet and gets off of his ATV. He walks up to the vehicle and sees that all tires are flat. That's when Ryder knows something has happened and now his heart is starting to race.
Ryder also sees a spike trap on the road, which was what caused Chase's tires to flatten. 
He then spots Chase's pup-tag lying on the road and his police uniform. Ryder picks up the police outfit. He finds a torn hole in it. 
Ryder's fingers land on something wet and when he looks at his fingers, there red. "Blood?" Ryder whispers. He looks down to the road and sees drips of blood on the concrete. 
Ryder's hands are now shaking uncontrollably. Even though it's chilly outside, he feels like he's baking under the sun. Sweat of nervousness is rolling down Ryder's forehead. His body is now becoming really tense. 
"S-something h-has happened" Ryder says in a low and shaky tone. He pulls out his pup-pad from his pocket and calls Rubble. 
"Rubble, I need you down here right now" Ryder says. "For what?" Rubble asks. "Just come" Ryder commands. "Okay, I'll be there right away" Rubble says.
