I drove for about an hour before finally stopping. The GPS in the car had taken me to some cabin in the woods. I stepped out skeptically and held the gun in both my hands just in case. I had been so blind to trust Director Fury on the phone that I hadn't stopped to think that this could all be some kind of ploy. Although the thought seemed slightly irrational due to the fact I was a level seven agent. I didn't wouldn't be of any use outside of S.H.I.E.L.D. mostly due to the fact that I was trained to not give up any information no matter how much torture that I would endure. It's not like I had much to live for anyways. I had no family, and barely had any friends either. Working with S.H.I.E.L.D left little time for a social life.

I went up the door and opened it. Voices were coming from the kitchen and it made me slightly worried because I thought I was only meeting Director Fury here. I walked in quietly and gripped my gun in my hands prepared to shoot if necessary. I rounded the corner and aimed into the room. It took me a moment to realize that these people weren't a threat. At that same moment I also realized that both the people I should be looking at should be dead.

"Agent Smith, glad you could make it."

"Agent Coulson. You're supposed to be dead," I said as I put my hand on my waist and let my other hand with the gun still in it, now loosely held, fall to my side.

"We need your help, with a mission that is. You are one of the few agents left in the area. Also given your level seven clearance, you seemed like someone we can trust," Fury said.

"And what exactly is this mission?" I asked.

"Ever heard of the Winter Soldier?" Coulson asked.

"Of course I have sir. He works for Hydra, he's an assassin. He was one that killed you Director Fury," I said raising my eyebrows at him.

"Almost killed, Agent Smith," he corrected me giving me a look with his one good eye.

"Anyway, he was seen fighting Captain America on the hellicarrier that crashed and destroyed the triskelion. After we believe he is also the one that pulled him out of the water. No one has seen the soldier since. We don't know if he went back to Hydra or has abandoned him. Your mission is simple. Find the Winter Soldier and bring him to us," Agent Coulson said.

"Woah, hold on, back up. You want me, an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D to track done the world's deadliest assassin and convince him to just walk into our arms like nothing? I may good at dragging the bad guys in, mostly in pieces, but he is trained. He's skilled far beyond what I would know. He's stayed hidden by Hydra for years. He's not going to be walking down the street in the open. You really want me to do this?" I asked.

"Even though your skills could be better placed elsewhere, Natasha thinks you should be the one to do this. She thinks that you are capable of handling this. We need you to gain his trust and bring him in so we know that he will no longer be a threat to the world. From what Captain Rogers told us, the Winter Soldier seems to be recovering memories of his past self. We believe that due to this, he may be somewhat easier to convince. Also I would advise that you do not mention you are a S.H.I.E.L.D agent to him. We don't know if that will change his mind about you," Director Fury said.

I took all of this new information in. I could say no to them and just walk away like a lot of other agents had. If I did that, however, I would be turning my back on everything I knew. Natasha believed that I could do this. Fury certainly thought that I was capable enough to handle myself. He knew I wouldn't go down without a fight. I had to find the Winter Soldier. I would find him and bring him in, no matter what it took.

"Where do I start?" I asked giving them a sly grin.
