I

Something was wrong here. I had just come in from working another mission and was supposed to report to debriefing, but as I walked in the building I knew there was something wrong. Everyone was running around as if the world was ending and for all I knew it could have been. After the Avengers had destroyed most of New York everyone was on edge about what else could be coming to the planet.

I decided I needed to just get in and out quickly. I had files in my office that should not have been there and could be potentially damaging to S.H.I.E.L.D. I walked over the nearest elevator and jammed my identification into the slot. The doors opened and I walked it, hitting the button that would take me to the floor my office was on. The doors opened and for some reason it was eerily quiet and empty.

I walked out, the heels of my shoes clicking against the floor. I smiled to myself. Walking in heels and hearing the sound always made me think of two things; that I was on my way to kill someone or I was about to take the town with my girlfriends. The second most likely to never happen mostly due to the fact that I really had no friends outside of work. The first had happened more times than I would dare to admit.

As I unlocked the door to my office I heard an odd humming coming from outside. I didn't have time to dwell on what it might be so I went inside and walked over to my desk. It was a nicer office than most agents had, with a floor length class wall behind my sleep glass deck and black swivel chair. I spent more time entertaining myself by spinning in the chair than doing actual work here than I cared for Fury to know.

I went over to the black bookcase against the wall and pulled out a large book that had some bullshit title on it that no one would dare come close to, not only due to the long boring but also because if the size. It weighed about 5 pounds which would be horrible to carry around. I opened it a grabbed the files from the hollowed out middle along with a flash drive.

I heard something loud and rumbling in the distance. I focused on the sound and realized that it was getting closer. I turned and my eyes widened in surprise. A hellicarrier was coming straight towards me.

"Fuck," I said and then started running.

I ran as fast as I could down the halls trying to escape the massive ships coming towards me. I heard the crashing come from above and kept running. I threw open the door to the flight of stairs and ran down taking the steps two or three at a time. More rumbling came from above I knew that any second I could be crushed under a pile of rubble. The entire building shook as I finally managed to reach the ground floor. I flung open the door and ran towards the garage as everyone else ran in there own separate directions. I could really care less about what everyone else was doing. I needed to get my self out of here.

I ran towards the garages knowing that there would have to be some cars there. I pushed open the door and saw that there was no one around here. They must have gotten out of here before I got here.

I jumped into one of the black suv's that S.H.I.E.L.D. had and drove off. I heard crashing from behind me and saw most of the building get taken out. I slammed on the gas and sped off just trying to put enough distance between myself and the now on fire and destroyed wreckage of a building I used to work in. I went back to my apartment and turned on the television and went straight to the news. The triskelion was almost entirely destroyed. The footage cut to a breaking news announcement. Captain America had been found on the shores of the Potomac and was taken to the hospital. There was no one around when paramedics arrived apparently so no one knows who saved him.

I was puzzled for a moment because he shouldn't have been around that area. I had been in several missions with Steve before and knew he would do anything to protect people. My phone began to go off at that moment. I grabbed it from the table and picked it up.

"Hello?" I answered cautiously, unsure of who was on the other end.

"It's me. I need your help," a girls voice said. It was Natasha. She had been the one that found me years ago training at a S.H.I.E.L.D. facility to join and thought my skills would be better suited somewhere else. Her somewhere else ended up being an espionage unit. I had helped her only on a few missions, mostly because we both preferred to work on our own.

"What do you need?"

"There's someone that I need help finding. You're good at that. It's a favor to a friend of mine," she said.

"I'm listening," I said.

"There's a file under the couch. Take it with you when Fury calls. I'm going off the grid for a while. I told Fury you could help him. Good luck Nicole," she said.

"What do you mean? And stop breaking into my house. I swear next time I will-," the line went dead before I could even finish.

I put the phone down and got on my knees and felt under the couch. There was something there and I pulled until a large envelope came loose. Before I could open it the phone rang. I answered.

"Agent Smith, we need your help," the voice replied. It was Fury

"You know the point of faking your death is to stay dead," I said sarcastically.

"You don't sound surprised to hear me then. Who talked?" He asked.

"A certain little spider told me a few secrets. I know you need my help so what is it?" I asked.

"I've sent coordinates to the car you took. Follow the gps route that has been programmed in. Get rid of this phone after the conversation. We will see you soon Agent Smith." With that the call ended.

I quickly gathered a few of my belongs, some clothes and money from the safe. I threw my gun on top of the bag and went to car. I threw the trunk open and made sure that the standard amount of weaponry was in there as well. I turned in the car and began to follow the gps to the place the director had told me. I drove and awaited my fate. I knew a new mission was headed my way and I had to be ready for anything.
