A/N: I apologize if I accidentally slip up with names. I seem to interchange them all the time now and don't even realize that I've messed up. Just let me know if I've put the wrong names in again. Thank you for your understanding.
Copter POV
Arrogant jerk!
I normally don't scour through someone's mind, but for these scumbags, I will. I was very careful to stay away from anything associated with Colton. However, the things I saw him and his beta do are horrible. How do these people still keep their titles?
Well, when I'm done with them, they will be lucky to keep the clothes on their backs. I'll make sure everything else is taken away from them.
I hope they beg and grovel for mercy. It will make it even sweeter when I knock the wind out of their sails.
My blood boils as Ethan stares at me and says, "To me, it looks like you are here to investigate something we have done wrong. Am I right?"
Damn right it is an investigation. We are here to put your evil butts in jail and hold you accountable for everything we find. There is no way I'm going to let this slide. Everyone involved is going to get what is due to them, no matter who they are. These people nearly killed my cousin.
Bas continues to rub little circles on my back as he clears his throat and politely replies, "We are here for counsel business. Since we haven't been out in the werewolf community for long, we have brought along a few additional members from our pack to learn how this is done. You can call it an educational experience for them."
Education is right. Everyone is going to learn exactly what these people did and what happens when you do illegal things.
My eye twitches as I fight to keep a straight face. Bas' words earlier still run through my mind. I don't want to jeopardize the investigation, but I'm also not going to take it easy on them. I want them to suffer right away.
Ethan gives me another long look before he nods and turns around.
We follow close behind him as he heads into the pack house and towards Isaac's office. I'm not even going to use their titles. They don't deserve to have them.
With my hands balled into fists at my side, I drill holes into Ethan's back as we wind around the halls towards the offices.
Along the way, I ignore the murmurs and the occasional gasps while I keep my eyes locked on the jerk in front of me.
When we finally make it to Isaac's office, Ethan points just a little further down the hall. "The conference room you can use is there. Your people can go setup there." He turns towards Kimmon, Bas and me. As his gaze lingers on me, questions swirl in his eyes, but I'm not in the mood for them.
Luckily, he chooses not to ask any as he opens Isaac's door. "Alpha Isaac is in here. Follow me."
When he turns his back to us, I momentarily let my upper lip raise in a snarl before I quickly put my professional face back on.
As he walks into the room, he chimes, "Alpha Isaac, a few people are here to see you."
I go to follow behind him, but Bas wraps his arm around my waist and motions Kimmon to go first. Through the mind link, he says, "I want to see the look on Alpha Isaac's face when he sees you. Stand behind Kimmon so you are hidden."
Even though I want to charge into the room, I understand what Bas is doing.
As soon as Kimmon enters, Bas and I walk in right behind him. I make sure I conceal myself behind our friend.
Footsteps head towards us as Isaac chimes, "It is so good to finally meet you, Alpha Kimmon. I haven't had a chance to formally visit your pack or to talk to you much since you took over from your father."
I keep myself from gagging.
What a line of bullshit...
In a professional manner, Kimmon replies, "It is nice to meet you, too. There are many different packs and people I want to see, but since the war has ended, I don't seem to find much time to do anything but work on rebuilding my pack."
"However, you have found time to come now and visit. You even brought more people than usual for a counsel's required visit."
Isaac's tone rubs me wrong. It is as if he knows something and is trying to force something out of Kimmon. However, Kimmon isn't that weak. Plus, he knows we are right behind him to support him. I'm sure the investigation being about Colton also helps to keep his moral integrity. Kimmon is nothing like his father, and I don't have any worries about which side he stands on.
With a calm and even tone, Kimmon replies, "The counsel said I was needed, so I made time. Oh, you haven't been introduced to the Alpha and Luna who came with me." He steps to the side a little, so Bas comes into full view. "Let me introduce Alpha Bas from Sun Moon and his Luna Copter."
I keep myself hidden while Bas steps forward and holds out his hand. "Hi, I'm Alpha Bas. It is an honor to meet you."
I don't dare look, but I wish I knew what kind of look the idiot has on his face. I'm sure it is some sort of cocky, arrogant thing, just like Beta Ethan earlier. One that I hope to wipe off soon.
Bas' hand wraps around my arm and he pulls me out from my hiding spot. I quickly plaster on a smile. However, it is only hiding the smirk I'm dying to flash at the idiot.
Isaac's eyes widen, and his dark brown eyes almost rejoice as soon as he sees me. However, I'm not going to let him have any happiness. This bastard nearly killed my cousin.
While choking down an annoyed grunt, I chime, "It is nice to meet you."
He almost catapults forward but is quickly cut off when Bas snaps. "He is my Luna. Don't even think about touching him." His words have a sharp edge to them and a harsh bite.
Isaac stops and stares at me for a moment before he tilts his head. "You look just like Colton."
The corner of my mouth curls upward as fire burns within my eyes. "Colton is my cousin. People often confuse us for being twins. However, I can assure you I'm not my cousin, and I'm not as weak."
I emphasize my last word, hoping he will get my subtle hint. But knowing how arrogant he is, I'm sure it flew right over his head.
The door shuts behind us and a click echoes around the room.
He takes another step closer to me as a spark ignites in his eyes. "If you are twins, can you do what your cousin can do?"
Bas' hand tightens around my arm as I innocently ask, "What do you mean?"
Isaac takes another step towards me. His warm breath brushes across my face as my stomach churns. The overwhelming stench of onions and barbeque sauce fills my nose. Any other time, I would find the combination inviting if I was looking at a plate of food, but not right now.
I fight to keep my blank face while my lip tries to twitch and snarl at him.
With a hopeful tone, Isaac asks, "Heal. Can you heal people?"
Kimmon steps forward and gently pushes Isaac back. "We aren't here about Luna Copter and what he can or can't do. We are here on counsel business, and I advise us to stay on track. Now, can we sit down and discuss what is expected of you?"
