Invidious

DESPITE MY BODY BEING IN THE MOST CALMING STATE IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS, A FAINT voice in my head ordered me to put my feet back on the ground and walk into what would be my dream come true in a few hours. It took me a few minutes and various changes of positions around the bed for me to finally be reminded how important this was. How much I'd worked for this one specific day.

Rubbing my eyes, I stood up from the bed in the middle of the room and made my way to the sink, turning the faucet on. As soon as the water touched my face, I was jolted back to reality, along with some hazy memories from the night before. Especially the lustful gleam in Alex's eyes. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't feeling the same way he did.

Despite the teasing and the passive-aggressive commentaries coming from him, it had been the first time our bodies had collided so closely, and it was such a bold move I did not expect from him. My mind had been flooded with so many memories I knew I had to push back for now. I set my attention fully on the simple task of taking a shower.

I dipped my hand into the pouring water from above and walked inside after I was sure it was the proper temperature. Due to a shortage of time and numerous items that were generally prime during this, I abbreviated my regimen.

When I was finished, I wrapped a towel over my body and tightly clutched it. I walked over to my luggage, looking for the clothing I'd set aside for today. As I brushed my damp hair, I hurriedly slipped them on. I walked out of the room, furrowing my brows when I noticed Miles standing in the living room.

''Morning, why are you up so early?'' I inquired as I approached him. He gave me a slight smile as he looked up at me.

''Some business to attend," He stated, his face betraying his wish to stay in bed, as well as the exaggerated bags under his eyes from last night's drinks.

''Alright,'' I couldn't argue further when it came to him not being there for me today. He gave me an apologetic smile that I giggled at. Miles walked to me and wrapped his arms around my body, being careful as he always was.

''I'm sorry, love'' He mumbled, against my hair, to which I once again grinned.

He moved away from me, placing his hands on my shoulders and looking down at me with a worried expression. To make it clear that I wasn't upset, I made a face.

'' 'Ave you eaten anything?'' He inquired, grabbing his phone from the counter. I shook my head as I grabbed a water bottle from the fridge. With a frown, he looked down at it.
