x DEMON xI had just gotten my Doordash order from the front office when Dior's junior approached me. "Yes?" I decided to be civil today. I didn't even hold any feelings towards Dior romantically, and I'm sure Dior felt the same now. There wasn't any point in being rude to the girl anymore.
"Dior's here. At school," she stated bluntly.
I rose a brow at her. "And why come tell me this?"
"Because I'm sure you're glad you have her all for yourself now. She came by my class, pulled me out, and told me she couldn't mess with me anymore," the girl had tears in her eyes. "So you got what you wanted Demon. Lucky you."
"I don't want Devana anymore," I tell the girl, knowing that's what her heart needed to hear and that it was the truth. "But she will be mine soon, in a different way." I flash her a smile, "If you see her before I do, tell her she's dead," I growl.
I turn away from the junior and head back to the lunch table. I knew Laura was hungry and I didn't want to keep her waiting. A seething part of me didn't like how I ordered her food, but another part of me would feel guilty if I didn't. Sometimes even I didn't understand myself. I was a big pile of emotions without a matching pair.
All eyes were on me, more than usual, as I waited for my table to come into view. Dior must be there, I guessed. I fixed my eyes on her as soon as I saw Dior and Laura arguing. I set the DoorDash bag on the table, and grabbed Dior by the elbow.
"Stay off of her," I hiss.
"You're protecting her when you know what she knows," Dior said lowly, getting in my face. Her eyes flashed to the table with our food on it. "Buying her food. Where's the Demon I know? Where's Khloe?"
"Don't worry about what I do," I whisper back.
I glanced at Laura, still standing by our table, a pissed off expression on her face. "I knew you were in love with that bitch. From the moment you met her. On the bus that day," Dior said loudly. "No one wanted to believe me, but this shit here is proof. You send me and Syn to watch her just for you to throw us both away and stay by your enemy's side. Yeah, you think I didn't know about this morning and the wreck? I'd let the bitch starve if it was up to me."
"Good thing things aren't up to you then," I say, then throw a punch at her. Dior dodges it, then tries to pull me down by my shoulder. I get myself balanced then grab the collar of her shirt and fling her down to the hard floor. She gasped out in pain, clutching her arm. My heart's beating out of my chest and my eyes are wild as I stand over Dior.
I back away slowly, knowing that if I kept going I could kill her. "You were supposed to be by my side. You crossed me. You snitched." I looked around at everyone that was watching, even Laura, stuck with a horrified expression on her face. "Dior is no longer one of mine."
The crowd pressed in closer to Dior, some people holding satisfied expressions, others looking mortified. "Thinking you're all high and mighty, this is what you get bitch," someone sneered at Dior as she stumbled up. Laura took a step towards her and I glared her way.
"She's- She's my friend," Laura said strongly, a look of confusion in her eyes. "Even if she really wasn't and she hated me just as much as you and Syn do."
Laura helped Dior away from our peers, sending me a desperate look, although I couldn't possibly know who really needed helping. My friendships? Me?
Dior? Syn? Laura?
I grabbed the DoorDash bag and followed after them, questioning my actions and what person I had turned into. Would Syn show up next? Had I lost all of my friends in one day to love and anger.
"Look's like she doesn't want you after all," Korinthian stated, appearing out of nowhere and walking alongside me. "Once this school realizes the only power you hold is what's in your mommy or daddy's wallet, and that you can't actually do anything, you'll fall. Hard and to the bottom," she sneered.
"And you'll enjoy that, I assume," I say back calmly, keeping pace with her like she was an old friend. "I will. And I'll be there to savor the moment," she promised me. Korinthian stopped walking, turning back to the cafeteria as we approached the main hall.
"I hope you have an awful senior year, Khloe."
"I hope karma pays her respects well," I give her a ghost of a smile, then I turn to follow Laura and one of my ex best friends.
