"Fine?" I answer unsurely.

"This is why I always tighten my seatbelt," Syn said.

Suddenly Demon pressed on the gas and I was slammed back against my seat as we swerved between and around cars on the road. I found myself gripping Dior's hand, my eyes wide open in excitement and fear. "What's going on?" I shouted as Demon let down all the windows.

"We're hoping we don't end up in the after life by the end of this ride," Dior smirked, throwing her hands up and letting the air twirl in between her fingers. I mimicked her, sticking my arm out the window and enjoying my rush of adrenaline.

"Laura!"

My eyes snapped up and I met Rhi's in the lane over, in Don's brother's car. Upon further inspection, I spotted Polly too.

"Hey Rhi!" I waved, excitement taking over me.

My friend's eyes slid over the expensive car I was in, then fell on who I was riding with. Don's brother slowed down so we could talk. "What are you doing?" Polly shouted out. "Having fun," I called back. Demon took off, and I waved goodbye to my friends, not knowing that was probably the last lukewarm moment we would all have together.

At lunch, my eyes slid over the cafeteria tables like a hungry animal looking for prey. No empty seats, and no friends for this girl. Rhi, Polly, and Donreneé had been giving me the silent treatment ever since they saw me riding in Demon's car on Wednesday.

I tried approaching them about it, but I guess it didn't help that either Syn or Dior was always walking with me.

Yep, it happened. I had gotten sucked into the life of the three demons, and it wasn't even intentional.

Somehow, my deal with Dior had gotten revised again without me knowing: Remember when she said they'd leave me alone as long as I kept my mouth closed about their love triangle to protect their reputations? Well, apparently that meant no to continued bullying but yes to them watching me 24/7. And what better way to do that than to have me sit with them and walk with them to my classes. It was still better than them trying to be my friend but also annoying because now I had none and couldn't make none. What made things worse was that Mrs. Seabarn had declared that Demon be my "unofficial buddy" now and do all of the above anyways...so no bargaining with Dior would be able to get me out of this.

And...I have to bring Demon with me to talk to Mrs. Seabarn on Friday's, which I found out when I overheard Syn and Demon talking one day.

"You know the drill," Syn said, coming up behind me. My eyes finally found Rhi's table and my friends, but Syn was already pulling me away.

I followed Syn to a table they had coined their own in a snug corner of the cafeteria, where the scent of athletes and spoiled milk couldn't reach us. Demon looked up as Syn and I approached. Dior was staring intently at her phone, frowning. "Caught this one trying to escape," Syn joked.

I rolled my eyes and plopped down next to Demon. Syn sat on my other side, since they were both convinced that I would make a run for it to go sit with my friends. Dior sat in front of Demon, and the seats in front of me and Syn were empty.

"Whatever," I mumbled.

"We have a meeting with Mrs. Seabarn after school," Demon reminded me. "I know," I snapped. Syn nudged me from my left, "Don't talk to her like that."

"I know," I repeated in a smart ass tone, and Dior chuckled. I had quickly grown to realize me and Dior both had a mutual dislike for Demon. I couldn't even see why Syn was jumping hoops to be Demon's number one now that Dior was done fulfilling that position. I mean, the bitch burned you for one.

"La-

"I want a nickname too," I pouted before Syn could speak, nudging Demon with my knee. "Bipolar ass," Syn mumbled, but I knew she was just jealous that I was sitting closer to her so-called soul mate. I rolled my eyes and ignored the 17-year old. "Everybody here got a cool nickname except me," I fake pouted some more.

If Syn hated me being here, I'll get along with the others somewhat to piss her off even more.

"First of all, me and Demon's nicknames go better together because they sound threatening," Syn said, looking proud of herself. "Yea, but you don't look threatening," I said bluntly and Dior snickered.

Demon looked between me and Dior, her expression letting me know she wasn't enjoying the peace between me and her friend.

"You didn't say that when I had my knife to your throat," Syn snapped, starting to stand up. I watched her stand, keeping my face calm even though I felt like I was about to explode with anxiety. "Are you gonna have that same attitude when I have mine to yours?" I rose an eyebrow, flashing her my own knife I had acquired, underneath the safety of the table.

Syn seemed to be surprised I had said anything back.

Demon seemed amused, as well as Dior.

"Maybe I just will," Syn sat back down, playing with her food. "Hmm, what about L," Demon suggested, switching the topic fast.

"It sounds gay as hell, and even though I am, nope," I scowled.

"Perfect. L it is," she gave me a self satisfied smirk.

"Asshole," I mouthed, rolling my eyes.

"So, how're your classes going?" Demon asked me.

"Suffocating. Y'all follow me around everywhere," I roll my eyes. "And nobody wants to be my friend."

"Good," Demon commented in a casual tone, "And Mrs. Seabarn told me to start asking you that so you'll feel inspired to do better."

I glared at her.

"Oh, Demon. You're such the perfect role model for a student," I say sarcastically.

"Demon, L, Syn, and Dior," my ally in crime grinned.

Syn seemed annoyed by Dior's statement, but probably because of the order Dior said it in more than anything. "She just sits with us so we can keep an eye on her. We dropped the idea of her joining us a long time ago. I don't have the time and energy to be fake to her like you probably do, Dior."

"Good thing nobody asked," I snapped at Syn.

Demon and Dior chuckled, but Syn's gaze darkened.
