Night had dawned on us once again. Another night at the palace. Mal was preparing for that hunting thing and he was the only one I hung out with lately. So, I was alone in a huge empty room.

I've never seen this room before in all the years I lived here. It's huge, like a ballroom. A staircase was just placed at the entrance of it, for royalty to walk down I presumed.

I was standing in the middle of the room looking at the beautiful designs on the walls with the royal crests on them.

"Having fun?"

"Nikolai?" I turned to see him in one of the door ways to the big room. He was still in his prince attire, and sash. Looking handsome as ever. He has gloves on too, I've never seen him wear gloves before.

He walked towards me and stood next to me. I sighed, "it's beautiful in here."

"Yes," he looked at me, "beautiful."

I smiled awkwardly and turned to leave, "I think I'm going to go to bed now."

His hand wrapped around my wrist and he spun me around towards him. Making me catch my breath, "I beg your pardon!?"

He didn't answer.

"Dance with me?"

I scoffed, "there's no music, dimwit."

"I didn't know there was a rule that you had to have music to dance." He said bowing now. "Will m'lady offer me the great opportunity to dance?"

"Shut up."

He smirked and took my hands, "I'm taking that as a yes." He swooped me off my feet and spun me around.

Putting me back down we held hands and danced like maniacs, with no music, no crowd. Just us.

"We're going to bump into something!" I laughed like a maniac while trying to keep my balance as we galloped like crazy people.

"Oh, we're fine!"

"What are you even doing?" I shouted because I was laughing so hard.

"I can't dance with the girl I've known my whole life?" He shouted back.

"Can I ask why the boy I've known my whole life is courting a girl you barely know?" I shot back. shit.

Silence. And the hands were gone.

"Nik?," I whispered, "Nik, why did you stop dancing?"

"Why do you always ask that dumb question?" He sighed rubbing his fingers at the top of his nose.

Why do I always do this? That is what he meant. I always ruined a good moment between us. A time when we were getting along.

"I want to be your friend again Nikolai. It's going to take some time for me to trust you completely. The least you could do is tell me why you are doing this."
