The Newsies' Beach House, Emerald Isle, NC, around 3:00 am

POV: Narrator

It was pitch black as Davey had woken up from his sleep by a series of yelling. When he looked up, he realized it was Spot that was yelling from the foot of his bed. He had caught both Davey and Jake sleeping together. Before he could react, Spot pulled out an old flash camera and began snapping what seemed like thousands of pictures. Suddenly, Spot pulled out a knife. Although Davey was feared for his life, Spot didn't care about Davey. He wanted Jake to be gone instead because he wanted Davey to feel remorse. He slowly approached Jake's side of the bed while he was still asleep somehow. Davey tried to stop Spot, but he couldn't....move! He couldn't do anything, but just watch as his new acquaintance was about to be murdered. Just as Spot was about to strike Jake the first time, everything flashed.

Davey immediately sprung up from bed, sweating. It was a dream. Or nightmare, I should say. He looked over to his right. Jake was still there, sound asleep. It was dark, with the only light being from the dim moonlight shining through the windows and the door to the balcony, and from the dark TV screen, which had done that as it usually does because of inactivity. He looked over to his left. 3:03 am. Suddenly, a knocking came from the balcony door. That scared Davey so bad that it made him grunt. It was just Kelson. Davey sighed out of relief and went over to the door to unlock it for him.

"Boy am I glad to see you-" Davey said before he was interrupted by Kelson. "Listen, Davey, we're in big trouble," Kelson said, alarmed. "How much trouble?" "Like, huge trouble. I broke my promise to you." Kelson admitted. "What? What promise? That's the last thing I'm worried about." Davey said. "Spot's gone, we don't know where he went," Kelson said, sweating and out of breath. "I'm really sorry, I couldn't even keep that stupid promise," Kelson said, sucking up. "Hey, it's fine." "No, it's not fine! Don't you understand, we're in danger now! I put you in danger! You have every right to be angry at me." "I'm really not, you're not to blame for all of this. I know you were just trying to help." Davey said. "Davey, you're the best. Even if anyone else tells you otherwise." Kelson said, and they hugged. He was elated. Kelson looked over to see Jake lying in Davey's bed on one side, fast asleep. He sighed out of relief. "Thank God. I was worried Spot did something to him after he took you back here." Kelson said. "Nope, a poor little fella just needed a little snooze." Davey responded. Kelson smiled.

"Alright, I'm staying with you here tonight, the room has been secured by some of my guys. I need to make sure you are safe through the night." Kelson said. "Sure, but my bed is kinda full..." Davey said while motioning towards Jake sleeping. "Yeah, I know. Do you mind if I just crash on this sofa right here?" "Sure, suit yourself. I'll just be in my dreams." Davey said. "Alright, I'll stay here with my sleek pistol so that nothing can harm us," Kelson said positively. "Where is Mary right now?" Davey asked, concerned. "Oh, don't worry about her. She is safe and sound at my place." Kelson confirmed. Davey tossed a blanket over to Kelson. "You're ever better. Alright, good night." Kelson said. They both fell back asleep within a matter of minutes.

5:30 am

"Davey...Hey, Davey! Davey!!" Kelson was shouting and pushing Davey to get up urgently. "We gotta get rollin'. Spot's on his way!" he said. "What do you mean...?" Davey said, groggily. "My guys have located him, and he's on his way here! We have to get back to my place ASAP!" Kelson instructed. "Where's Jake?" he asked. "He's already there waiting for you, now let's get rollin'!" That motivated Davey to get up. He quickly threw on his silky bathrobe and his fur coat since it was still cold outside and together, he and Kelson escaped into the early dawn.
