"I am the Queen of England, let me into the palace," Catherine shouted, slamming her fist against the door. "I don't give a hoot what my husband now calls me, I am his wife in the eyes of God and I will not be forbade entrance to my rightful home."

"What's going on?" You asked as you approached her.

A guard had come to get you to try and calm Catherine down. You had been her handmaiden for many years but as the King had remarried, you were now his new wife's handmaiden, even if you missed Catherine. She may not be the woman you answered to anymore, but she had been a dear friend, and everyone knew that if someone were to calm her down, it would be you. It had been weeks since you had last seen her, Catherine having moved to a different palace to live out her life now no longer Queen. King Henry had made it clear that she wouldn't be welcome anywhere near him and his new wife, but you doubted that Catherine cared much for what he said seen as she still didn't agree that their divorce was legitimate, caring not for his new church.

She let out a sigh, trying to give you a friendly smile but it wasn't something she was able to do due to her anger.

"Have you not heard what my insolent husband has done?" She said with an annoyed laugh. "He has forbidden me from seeing Mary. She is my child and I will not listen to his new idiot of a guard until I am able to see my daughter.

Catherine slammed her fist against the door again.

"Do not ignore me," she called out. "Please, just talk to me. Get my husband to speak with me and tell me why."

You offered her a sympathetic smile, not knowing that she wasn't allowed to see Mary. Mary still lived with her father and her new stepmother, now seventeen and becoming her own woman but not allowed to do anything of her own wishes unless her father agreed. You knew how much Catherine loved her daughter and how her daughter loved her, it was a cruel fate to them both to be kept separated.

"I didn't know Catherine," you said with an apologetic tone. "I doubt he will keep it up long. He is a stubborn man; you know that better than I. Once he sees your distress, he will get what he wishes and let you see Mary, I am sure of it."

"What if he doesn't?" She said with a pained tone. "What if I never see my daughter again?"

"Do not fret of such things. He has other things to worry of, my lady. His new bride is with child. He is trying to clean up the mess that is being suggested that the child was conceived before your marriage was annulled by him."

Catherine sighed. "The poor thing. She is barely a woman herself. I do hope God blesses her with a son, Henry shall not take kindly to another daughter."

"We can only hope, my lady," you smiled. "Hope for both you to see your daughter again and for your daughter to have a brother on the way."

"Alas, all I have left is hope."
