Jotaro kept his eyes closed even after he woke up, waiting for the sound of his alarm clock. When no ringing came however, after what felt like minutes had passed, he sat up to find that it was already 10 am. He frowned as he turned the clock over in his hands, he could have sworn he'd set an alarm as always. Had he been so overworked that he forgot? "Star Platinum," he said as his stand materialized next to him, "Why didn't you wake me?"
"Ora," Star Platinum fixed Jotaro with a deadpan stare until something imperceptible caught his attention. He perked up for a moment, somewhat startled, before beginning to drift towards the door. He quickly hit his range limit though and tugged on Jotaro with a hint of annoyance.
"Good grief, I'm coming," Jotaro sighed. No point in wasting any more time, he was already behind on the day. He rolled out of bed and threw on a bathrobe to open the door. After all, Star Platinum clearly thought there was something important beyond the door and he was far past the days of questioning his stand instincts. His hand reached forth to open the door and he swung it open just in time to catch Polnareff, his own hand raised to knock.
Polnareff's eyes widened and he jumped back in surprise, clutching dramatically at his chest. "Give me a heart attack, why don't you, Jotaro," he shouted with a lopsided grin. "Did Star tell you I was coming?"
Jotaro cracked a slight smile at the sight of his friend. "Something like that," he said, "Did you need something? I already slept in today."
At that, Polnareff's smile turned mischievous and he crossed his arms with a smug expression. "Well actually, about that," he said in a tone that made Jotaro suddenly nervous. Not unlike when he'd let himself get talked into having a sleepover. "Hierophant Green was actually the one who turned off your alarm. This is an intervention buddy! Kakyoin and I think you've been working too hard between your studies and the new stand user. Which is why Rohan has agreed to take over research for your temporarily."
"I see," Jotaro said slowly with a bit of a frown. He didn't really appreciate the underhanded method but honestly, they had a point. He had been pushing himself pretty hard lately. "So what's the plan then?"
Polnareff grinned widely, "Kakyoin's setting things up right now so go and get dressed, my friend. We're going to the beach!"
After some grumbling from Jotaro and plenty of reassurance on Polnareff and Kakyoin's part that Rohan was more than up to the task, the three of them ended up at the beach along with Iggy. Kakyoin promptly got to work setting up towels and umbrellas for the three of them, while Polnareff wasted no time stripping down to a swimsuit. "Jotaro!" he yelled, "Join me in the water, let's race!"
Before Jotaro could reply, Polnareff was already off. With Iggy snapping at his heels and growling at any child who got too close. Jotaro chuckled and tossed his jacket onto the back of a chair Kakyoin had already set up. "Do you mind being here on your own for a second while I kick his ass?" he joked.
Kakyoin laughed in return and nodded, "Go ahead, I'll watch our stuff for now. This is your day to relax and have fun after all."
Jotaro smiled thankfully at Kakyoin and reached up to remove his shirt and follow Polnareff. But the moment he did so, he heard a familiar sound behind him that sent a chill down his back. The sound of female excitement. Jotaro flinched and turned around slowly to see a group of women standing a little ways away, openly gawking at his shirtless form. He clenched his jaw and turned away as quickly as possible before running after Polnareff. "Hey wait up," he called, "You said you wanted a race right so let's at least keep this fair."
As the two leapt into the water to begin swimming out as fast as they could, Kakyoin laid back onto his chair and scanned the beach. His gaze lingered for a moment on his friends speeding through the water before movement caught his eye and he turned to see someone off in the distance waving at him.
