Death Eaters. Draco snuck fucking Death Eaters into the building.
Bellatrix looked around with a smirk on her face. She moved in such a strange fashion, like she had already owned the place. The others followed her lead, probably knowing that she had the most control over Draco in this moment.
"The smoke is a bit over dramatic, don't you think?" Draco spat at her. He showed no fear towards her, although I'm sure if I had known her my entire life she wouldn't intimidate me very much either. What would she really do to him? Narcissa would kill her in an instant if she dared to lay a finger on him.
"Please," she cackled silently, "I don't think it was enough." She confirmed while she flashed him a creepy grin. The others behind her laughed along, making Draco seem like an outcast. He didn't fit in with this group. But I don't either.
We had never met. Bellatrix and I. And I loathed that this was the fucking family reunion of the century right now. I moved my head back around the corner where the rest of my body stood, hiding it from view once more. I waited for another moment before I peaked around the corner again.
I saw Draco take a few deep breaths through his nose before he nodded his head to the side, signaling for the others to follow behind him. They each quietly made their way through the large hallway, not wanting to get caught before the deed at hand was finished.
I stalked far behind them, not wanting to get too close. I knew where they were going almost instantly from the route he chose. A place that Draco and I had traveled to frequently when we wanted space from the outside world. A place that I now knew I wouldn't be able to go to with him for comfort any longer.
The astronomy tower.
I watched in the far off distance as they allowed Draco to climb the stairs by himself first. They probably wanted to wait a little while to make their grand entrance. It didn't take a genius to realize how theatrical Bellatrix was. She wanted the element of surprise on her side.
She continued moving around the hallway, grazing her fingers along the castle walls. Shivers crawled up and down my spine as I watched. Though she didn't scare Draco, she did scare me. They all did. I continued to move back behind the wall every once in a while, making sure they didn't know I was here.
After a few minutes they all slowly started walking up the stairs to the tower, letting me get closer and follow behind them as well. I'll just wait on the lower deck until the time is right. Then I'll join them up top.
And become a murder for Christ's sakes.
Fuck. I can't do this. I can't. I can't. I can't.
I was a panting mess. My stomach was ready to hurl. I silently paced at the bottom of the stairs, which must have been close enough to hear everything that was happening upstairs. I took a deep breath and placed my foot on the first step as I listened. My heart hurt so bad hearing Draco try to speak.
"Have you been whispering to yourself, Draco?" I heard Dumbledore's voice ask him, not making me feel any better as I knew what had to be done to him.
You are not weak, Juliet. You are stronger than this.
I put my foot on another step, slowly walking upwards. I couldn't turn back. No matter how much I didn't want to do this, I had no choice.
"Draco," I heard Dumbledore say calmly after a moment of silence. "You are no assassin." Like a knife to the chest.
You're right. He's not. But I think I am.
"How do you know what I am?!" Draco screamed back, obviously on edge. "I've done things that would shock you!" He added on.
