the bathroom was extremely crowded. every time a group of girls would leave, another group would come in. either to fix their make up or actually pee out of nervousness.

"do you have a lip tint? i forgot to bring mine," sighs daeun, turning to her best friend next to her.

hyejin nods, dipping her hands into her make up bag and searching for the small pink bottle. when she finds it, she passes it to daeun, who opens the bottle and places the tint on her lips. daeun's pale lips turned a bright pink.

hyejin checks her make up before setting it with a powder. once the girls were done, they squeeze between other girls to get out of the cramped bathroom.

"i can finally breathe fresh air," daeun huffs. the girls walk out of the room to the graduation room, finding the boys who were talking amongst themselves. hyejin and daeun walks up to them, to which jaehyun lets out a low whistle.

"my girlfriend looks so pretty," an arm goes around hyejin's waist, pulling her to jaehyun's side.

"you guys are hard to watch," grumbles jungwoo, looking away in disgust. jungwoo looks over to daeun who was standing next to him, and he gulps, but doesn't say a word.

things has gotten awkward between them now. they had confessed their feelings to each other a while ago, but jungwoo had rejected daeun with no explanation. their friendship was shaky, but they talked it out and agreed to continue being friends.

no one knew the reason why jungwoo didn't want to be in a relationship with daeun, even though he said he wanted to be in one just a few months back.

"we should go sit," hyejin calls. everyone agrees, finding their seats. they were seated by classes, so jungwoo had to leave to sit with his own classmates.

the moment they sat down, daeun leans towards her best friend, "it was so hard to be in the same space as him," she sighs.

hyejin frowns, feeling sympathetic towards her friend. she holds her hand, "once you go to college, you won't have to see him ever again," hyejin reassures.

daeun did well for her CSAT's. she did get one B, which made her a little upset, but she still got into the school she wanted. she ended up deciding to take a degree on biology.

"i know," replies daeun, "i will miss him a lot though," she admits, "but it's for the best."

"you'll be fine," hyejin smiles, "you'll probably find a new boy there."

daeun rolls her eyes, "you say that like it's easy."

the both of them fall into a laughter.

the ceremony soon started. they started with the principle's speech on the graduating cohort, followed by other boring stuff that hyejin almost fell asleep on. after that, they announced the top students of the school.

jaehyun was one of them.

hyejin clapped the loudest when jaehyun stands up from his seat, going up to the stage to collect his certificate. jaehyun stood tall in the middle as he smile to get his picture taken.

"i'm so proud of you," beams hyejin when jaehyun finally goes back to his seat.

"thank you," he replies, laying his dark red coloured diploma cover on his lap.

...

hyejin bites her lips in excitement, her hands resting on daeun's shoulders as she waits for their turn. she never thought that hyejin would be walking up on stage to take her diploma. she was so proud of herself.
