Sevan.
I shot up from my bed as I breathed heavily, clutching at my neck frantically. I looked down at myself to see I wasn't being choked as I thought I was. My breathing slowed as I realized I was safe but it didn't last for long.
I took notice of the sheets I was laying in and they were unlike any of my own. My hands brushed against the white cloth that reeked of cleaning products and the stale smell of air freshener. This is a hospital bed.
Eyes shooting up, a unfamiliar hospital room is what I found myself in. And everything was dead around me. The machine I was hooked up to, it was still plugged up but no power was enabling it. The only lights coming in the room were from the outside, most of it being blocked by the flimsy drapes hanged up for privacy.
I groaned taking off all the wires and the nasal breathing tube. I don't remember even getting here much less being injured enough to need supplemental breathing help.
My feet rested on the cold floor as I winced from the loss of warmth in the small sheets. I got up as balance wasn't a common thing to me anymore. I could only imagine how long I've been out to feel like this. Walking towards the window, I moved back the drapes as I saw a mess left from chaos.
Cars were crashed in rows, the surrounding buildings with windows blown out or with broken glass surrounding the area. Ripped clothes stained with something I don't want to name all over the place. And then bodies laying in the street...dead. I pulled the drapes back as I felt panic taking over me.
I stumbled over to the other side of the room, hand on the wall catching me from falling as I tugged on the door handle. My hair fell in my face as I tugged at the door repeatedly as it wouldn't budge. Shit, what happened to me?
I stepped away from the door looking for any form of communication as I looked at the bed once again. I could try to call for a nurse. Someone could still be here. I looked at the numerous wires at the bedside before I found the one I needed. I pressed it as nothing happened. No sounds to signify someone's coming or that it'd even been pressed. I waited for a couple minutes but my heart knew what I didn't want to say out loud.
There's no one here. No one here but me.
I fell back against the bed as I slid onto the floor. I ran my hands through my now outgrown hair in frustration. Tears thrummed in my eyes before they fell at the first sniffle. I cried silently to myself, folding my arms against my legs hoping that anyone I knew was still alive. The damage outside only created doubt in my mind that anyone for miles is here.
The bodies...something's not right.
I got up from the floor as I dragged myself to the bathroom seeing how ragged and drained I look. I was pale as my arms were bruised from the needles I assumed, my skin lacking the vibrant color it once had. My eyes carried bags, tired even though I may have be in a coma for days, even weeks long.
