Harry wasn't one to cry over things. He was very good at keeping his composure when the going got tough. Whether it was crazy stories written about him in the media or something rude a fan might have said to him while he was out, Harry never broke down.
During the year and while you'd been dating Harry, you'd only seen him cry once. When Gemma became pregnant with her first baby at Michal's everyone was so happy but when the news broke that his sister had miscarried the joy was sucked out of everyone in the family. Harry had never cried so much in his life and you felt terrible.
If anything ever happened to the two of you, Harry always tried to keep it together for the two of you.
Harry was always good and strong when things went downhill, but somehow he broke down that day.
"Come on, Harry! For God's sake, get in the pool!" They laughed as they waded and splashed in the water of the condo's backyard pool."All right. I'm coming." Harry groaned as he got up from the chair and placed his sunglasses next to his drink. Harry walked over to the edge of the pool and dipped his toe in the water before turning and walking away.
"Hello! Where are you – Harry!" they squeaked as Harry suddenly turned and launched himself like a cannonball into the pool, completely drenching you. Harry surfaced again, took a deep breath and shook his head, splashing water everywhere. As he pushed it off his face and wiped his eyes, he caught you standing there staring at him with your mouth wide open.
Harry let out a high-pitched laugh at the sight of you." You drenched me!" you laughed."You're in a pool love you're supposed to get wet," he grinned. Harry swam towards you and grabbed your waist, your legs immediately wrapping around his as he carried you around the pool.
"It's a beautiful day, isn't it?" He smiled and looked around."That is it. A good day relaxing in the pool." You smiled and wrapped your arms around his neck."Maybe we can have a quickie upstairs later? "I wanted some action today." He grinned as they both floated around the pool."We'll see, sir. Last night should have worn you out a bit though."Yeah, but I woke up with some morning wood and it wasn't fun to take care of on my own." He groaned.
Suddenly, Harry's phone started ringing."I better get that. Niall probably wants to know if we're coming to his party tomorrow night."Harry sat down in the pool and swam sideways, lifting himself up and out of the pool. He grabbed his phone and a towel and just walked into the house.
"Hi?"All Harry could hear from the other side was a sniff and the occasional sob."Hi?" Harry squeezed."H-Harry?"Ms Y/L/N?"Are you busy?" your mother was crying."N-no, ma'am. What's happening?"I need you to do me a favour." She sniffed."Oh, well, ma'am. What can I do?"Y/F/N...he died...his cancer was just too much." She sobbed.
Harry could have sworn his heart stopped for a second. He couldn't breathe. He couldn't swallow anything. Harry was completely incredulous. He knew your father was struggling with his cancer, but somehow he never thought to prepare for news like this. As your mother continued to sob on the other end of the phone, a speechless Harry looked out the window and watched you swim and swim around in the pool. So content and happy. And all of that was about to be ruined. By him.
"Harry, you have to tell her. Please. I can't bear to do it myself."Yes," Harry croaked, "yes ma'am... I'll tell her."Thank you, dear."You're welcome, and I'm sorry for your loss," he whispered.
