Hi! Just so you know I am having really bad writer's block, probably the worst I've had in a few years. I will try to write as best I can but if the next few chapters totally suck I'm so sorry. I'm trying really hard to update this book and Expecto Patronum, which I've decided to only update on the weekends. Thanks for reading, enjoy this chapter!
----------------------------------------------It had been a few days since they had prayed for a child. Gabriel had insisted they not tell their brothers, even though Sam was pretty sure they already knew about it.
One Saturday morning, there was a knock on the door. Which would be innocent enough until they voice. "Sammy, I'm home!"
"Oh noooo," Sam groaned and Gabe's face tightened into an angry jealous-filled glare as he walked towards the door. He couldn't just not let Satan come in. The archangel walked back inside with Lucifer, who had on a giant smile. "Hey Sam," he grinned, "how's it going?"
"Good, great actually," Sam said with a sigh, running his hand through his hair. "What do you want Lucifer?"
"I don't 'want' anything," Lucifer smirked, then disappeared, appearing next to Sam in the blink of an eye, "except you maybe." Sam saw the anger radiating off of his husband and frowned. "I'm married," he stated and Lucifer stuck out his bottom lip in a fake-pout. "Aw man!" He said, a sickly sweet smile on his lips before disappearing once more and then popping up next to Gabriel. He ruffled his younger brother's hair. "Don't be jealous little brother," he said, eyes narrowed, "Moosey here will say yes to me one of these days." And with that, he began to vanish but quickly became less translucent as he said in a hurry, "oh by the way I'm here because dad told me to tell you to go to the nearest orphanage tonight for some reason. Something about prayers being answered? I don't know," he shrugged and then truly went away.
Sam and Gabe exchanged glances before a slow smile crept onto Gabriel's face. "Let's go," Sam said, trying, and failing, to hold back his sheer excitement. Gabriel snapped and both of their favourite jackets appeared in their hands and they began to run out the door.
"Where you goin'?" A voice asked. Dean stood there behind them, just walking in from the kitchen. Sam tried to think up an excuse but Gabe blurted, "Chuck is giving us a kid too!" And sped outside, causing Sam to just shrug and leave as well, leaving Dean standing there open-mouthed.
Outside on the driveway, Gabriel snapped his fingers and transported both of them to the "nearest orphanage," which happened to be a really run-down brick building with vines climbing up the sides and towering fogged windows all over it. The two of them stepped inside and immediately made their way to a long wooden desk where a woman sat. She had curly brown hair and chocolate coloured eyes. The bronze nameplate on the desk said Miss Gea.
"Hello, can I help you?" She said and her voice had a slight British accent.
"Yes, uh...we want to adopt. We were told to come here by a, um...by a friend," Sam stumbled with his words. Miss Gea smiled. Her teeth were really white. "Sure, right this way," she said, got up, and led the way into a long hall and then to a fairly large room where there was a glass window type thing looking into a smaller place where babies slept in cribs. "Could your friend's name possibly be Chuck?" Gea said with another smile.
"Oh! Uh, yeah," Sam said, genuinely surprised. The woman laughed. "He told me you two would be coming tonight to adopt and he suggested that I show you two particular babies we have here. Is that okay with you? Or were you looking to adopt an older kid?"
"No, no," Sam said, putting his hands halfway into his jean pockets, "baby is fine. Whatever Chuck said." He looked at Gabriel, who shrugged. Sam hoped Chuck knew what he was doing. Gea disappeared and returned not moments later carrying a large carseat-cradle thing that had two babies in it.
One of them was slightly taller than the other, with light brown hair and very dark brown eyes. The other had dark brown hair and a lighter shade of brown for the eyes. "They're twins," Gea smiled.
Sam and Gabriel had the same expression. Shock and apprehension. Sam didn't know what to say, much less think, other than trying to find it in him to trust Chuck. Did he really think they could handle twins? Is this what they got for bothering him so much with all the prayers? Gabriel on the other hand was shocked, but in a good way. The more babies to play with, the more fun. Plus these were going to he his kids, so he didn't have to stop playing with them when it was time for "bedtime," as Castiel had said when Gabe was roughousing with toddler Mary.
"They are so cute!' Gabriel exclaimed and picked one of them up, the lighter haired one, and bounced him up and down on his knee. "Both of them are boys," Gea continued, helping Sam hold the other baby, "and they are both twin brothers. They don't have names, so you'll get to choose that." She gave Sam and Gabriel a ginormous smile and asked sweetly, "are you willing to adopt them?"
"Twins will be a handful," Sam told Gabriel in kind of a hushed tone, "I don't know if we can handle this."
"It's what Chuck picked for us," Gabriel whined, "look, this one has your face!" Sam chuckled and pointed at the other twin. "And this one has your amazing smile, Gabe," he noted, which made the archangel blush.
"I think we can handle twins," Gabriel concluded, and Sam shrugged, wearing a hopeful grin. "Let's hope so," the hunter said, and began filling out the paperwork. "We'll think of names once we get home," Gabriel said when they reached the name spaces on the form. They had absolutely no idea what to name two twin boys.
"Thank you so much," Gea said when they were finally headed back to the house. Sam thanked her again and he and Gabriel left with their new sons. They had come out to get one kid, hoping for minimal work and responsibility. Now they had somehow ended up with double the amount.
