Chapter thirty seven

Start from the beginning

"It's all my fault." I heard the voice of Taehyung lightly mutter.

"What are you talking about, hyung?" Jungkook asked, his voice full of worry.

"It's all my fault...she protected me. She took that bullet for me! If I didn't let her do that, she wouldn't have ended up in the hospital. She would remember us!"

Bullet? I thought, lifting my shirt up a little to see the permanent scar that was left from the wound I had. It was from a bullet? Why did I get shot? Protecting Taehyung from what? One thing was clear, I loved him dearly if I was willing to take a bullet for him. I don't think I would do that for a stranger.

"It wasn't just you, Taehyung. I was there too and I didn't do anything." Yoongi added, trying to console his guilty brother.

"It was all of our faults, we drove her away." Namjoon's voice sounded.

"We all hurt her emotionally and we all weren't fast enough to protect her. We all failed, it's all of our faults." Jin spoke up causing the room to fall silent.

"What matters now isn't what we did in the past, now we have to focus on the present. Jia is here with us and safe. We can't ever lose her again." J-hope reminded them.

"Yeah, the Baem Hyeongje are still out there and they aren't going to give up. We have to protect Jia no matter what." Jimin added.

"But, we also have to let her have freedom. We can't keep her cooped up here. We need to let her go out and be Jiyoung. We all saw the videos, she's happiest when she's there. Let's be the big brothers she needs, the big brothers she deserves." Namjoon said and the others all agreed.

Bomi lightly sneezed and I looked at her. "Bless you." I smiled before realizing what I just did. As quickly as I could I bolted towards my room and shut the door as soon as I was in. I jumped towards my couch and picked up a book, just in time as Jin came knocking on my door.

"Jia?" he asked as he opened the door.

"Hi!" I greeted happily, pretending to be absorbed in my book.

Jin came over and looked at me. "Good book?"

I nodded but then my eyebrows furrowed at the weird language. "Uh yeah, I'm struggling a bit to read it though. I think I may have lost my ability to read as well."

Jin raised an eyebrow at me before lightly grabbing the book and flipping it over. My face turned red as I realized it was upside down. "That might help." Jin lightly laughed.

"Well would you look at that...'' I muttered, still embarrassed by my mistake. "I can read!" I looked at him with a shocked expression and he just shook his head lightly at me.

"Next time you try eazy dropping, maybe don't bring Bomi along." He nodded as Bomi tried to make a burrow in my carpet. "And maybe go get her some toys today. I don't think Yoongi is going to take it lightly when he realizes where his slippers went. Along with all the other missing slippers."

I lightly laughed and tried to hide my stash of stolen slippers. "Will do."

Jin closed my door and I picked up Bomi from attacking the remains of Mr. Kim's slippers. "He is right. You do need some toys. And I probably need to figure out what to do with a dog. Although sometimes I doubt you are a dog." Bomi tilted her head at me, as if offended by my statement.

I do have a lot of questions that need to be answered. The name Jiyoung was brought up in both of the conversations I overheard. I need to figure out who she is and I know just the people who will tell me.

I picked up my phone and sent a text message: If you have time, please meet me in front of the dog store by school. I have a few questions that you can answer.
