Worry was immediately replaced by the excitement on Beomgyu's face as it brightened up in a flash at her words and caused his heart to race. It meant that he could see Yeonjun, right?
"C-can I v-visit him now?", he stuttered from the excitement and nervousness that swirled inside him, "Can I?"
A hint of sorrow and sympathy washed over Jiwoo's eyes as she saw the hopeful gleam and sparkle in the younger boy's eyes. Unfortunately, she was having to break that hope, "I'm sorry, but no. I was the first visitor and Soobin is the one with him right now since we couldn't manage to contact you"
Beomgyu's shoulders sagged in disappointment at once. He looked so sad but tried hard not to show it.
Jiwoo reached out and placed her hand on Beomgyu's cheek when she saw the disappointment in his eyes. She gave him a soft smile, "You will visit him too. Don't worry. The doctors will allow the visitors again to go in soon. Don't be sad, okay?"
Beomgyu nodded in acceptance and a warm feeling filled his chest. Maybe not today but he knew, he would see his beautiful husband again and remember how it felt to be close to him. So directing his eyes to the floor, he let out a small sigh, saying in the softest tone he could muster:
"Okay..."

The sound of the heart monitor's steady beats filled up the reanimation area, which was located at the far end of the hospital, near the ICU. A figure was lying under the white sheets with a brace around his neck, his eyes closed as his eyelashes softly touched his cheeks. He was breathing steadily as some wires were connected to him and a nasogastric tube attached to his nose to give him the nutrients and hydration he needed, so he could regain some form of energy. His hands lay motionless on top of the covers, the IV bags attached to each arm. The machines beside him were keeping track of his heartbeat, blood pressure and body temperature. It was a very silent room, quiet enough so that the soft noise of each breath could be heard and distinguishable among the soft beeps of his heart.
Seeing him in that fragile condition caused an immense fear to wash over Soobin who was still standing at the closed door, dressed in a long gown as a mask covered his face. He couldn't move from where he was standing as if he was afraid of approaching Yeonjun and taking a closer look at him. He didn't know why though because seeing him in that state was already terrifying enough. The fact that he'd been lying in that bed motionless for a week, unconscious, without waking up, scared him beyond belief. He couldn't stand the idea of losing him, especially, without letting him know about the true feelings he had for him.
Yeonjun had made him so weak that he wouldn't even get angry with him for leaving him like that, without saying a word.
Soobin choked back a whimper as he took slow, shaking steps towards the bed. He felt tears gathering at the corner of his eyes, threatening to spill onto the tip of his cheeks. His heart ached for him so badly, wanting nothing more than to hug him and kiss him, but his arms wouldn't obey him as if they were glued to his sides, paralyzed. He couldn't do anything to comfort him; to make everything better again. All that he could do was watch as he lay on the hospital bed. Asleep.
Towering over the older, his watery eyes trailed down to Yeonjun's hand that was laying limp at his side, his skin greyed and lifeless.
Soobin couldn't hold himself from reaching out for his hand with his shaky one, his fingers twitching in hesitation, in expectation of feeling his skin after so long time, but then he touched him and felt something like electricity run through him. Soobin couldn't stop the small laugh from escaping his mouth at the shock, because the hand was just so soft, like a piece of velvet or silk.
