BRIANNA

"Mom poisoned you because..."

I tuned him out after that. I could see his mouth moving but I couldn't hear anything. My hands fell limp onto my lap.

She poisoned me. She purposely tried to kill me.

"Love..." His plea for me to come backnto reality but I don't think I wanted to.

"Why?" I ask and he sighs, taking my hands in his.

"It's compli-"

"No. Tell me." I say firmly, pressing my thighs together as we sit at the edge of the bed.

"She loves me. In the way that Katherine loves Jax." It was harder to swallow but make it come up again was harder, bitter and tough.

I was deeply disturbed by what he said as he explained everything his dad said to him before he left for my house.

"What is going on?" I groan as the tears start to fall from my eyes. I press my palms on my eyes and he moves closer to me.

"I'm really sorry-"

"No, what you have is way worse than what happened to me." I cannot imagine if my dad had been in love with me this entire time or an uncle I was really close with. Carter was a moms boy when I first met his mom and now I know why.

"Are we really going to compare trauma after it was caused by the same person?" He humored me which worked. I wiped the tears from my face but they kept falling.

He leaned forward and slowly kissed the tears away.

"No, I'm talking about the slow and sensual, he's never done that with you."

"I missed you, I really did." He murmurs against my wet skin.

I should hate this, the only thing I have for him is hate but he's so persistent and makes my body want to flame up in his touch. My heart beats faster when his kisses trail down my neck. My pulse quickens. My underwear drenched when he pulls my waist to him.

"You said we'd burn, Carter."

And we were burning. For each other. Each touch seared through our clothes branding us like never before. I ended up on top of him, kissing him with everything I am. Trying to remember something, a spark that could lead to a flame of memories.

"I would burn for you. I would cause chaos for you and the feeling I get."

"I need you." The swell of his pants brush against my sensitive nub, lighting tingles up my spine.
