Ruth Foster
"You're so perfect, Ruth" my ears must've deceived me last night, but I knew they didn't when I heard Orion compliment me, and fell asleep with my hand still touching her hair. I was perfect.
I shift around in her bed, not feeling the weight of her besides me, "Ry, are you up?" I rub my eyes, and open them, only to find an empty room.
And then suddenly, it wasn't empty anymore.
Orion comes barging in, gun in hand.
"Jesus!" I shriek, throwing my hands up, "Do you always have to carry that everywhere? It's scary."
She tucks the gun into the back of her boyfriend jeans, "I thought I heard you calling for help?"
"What part of 'Ry, are you up?' translates to you having to barge in here with your killing machine?" I place my hands down, "What if you shot me?"
"I wouldn't have."
I challenge her, "Yeah, but what if you did?"
"I wouldn't have," She repeats, "See," Waving the gun in the air, she presses the trigger three times. I cover my ears to await the noise, but nothing comes. It's empty. "Can't shoot an empty gun."
"Okay, but what if I was getting attacked earlier? How would you protect your wife with a useless gun?" I question her, "I would've been dead."
"There are plenty of ways to kill someone, you know," She moves closer towards me, smirking
"Want me to show you?" She asks.
I nod, slightly scared at what she means, but also intrigued, "Yes," the word comes out effortlessly.

This is definitely not what I thought she meant earlier, and I'm one hundred percent sure that I'm witnessing a crime, and potential murder.
I cover my eyes as she breaks another one of his fingers, making him scream out in pain, "I don't have all day here. Tell me where the money is."
"I told you, I don't have it," The man jolts up in pain from the chair, but her hand pushes him back down, and then breaks another finger, "I swear."
"To what? God's not going to save you," Orion sneers, "If you don't want to die, you better talk."
I gulp, apparently loudly because her eyes snap towards me, and then back to the man in pain.
