"sorry, i couldn't come for dinner last night." aisha apologised once again, "i really wanted to hear about the trip."

"it's fine." gioia shook her head, "i'll just tell you know - we both know johnny will be late anyways."

"true that." aisha nodded.

"my aunt has no filter, she's quite harsh but she's really carefree." gioia explained, "so while she was darkening and adding the highlights to my hair, i had to sit through hours of her constructive criticism."

"yikes."

"yeah." gioia sighed, "i didn't really ask for it, but had no choice but to listen anyway. she told me i was a pushover and let people walk over me."

"gioia-" aisha started.

"it's okay, aisha." gioia stopped her, "her words did hurt, but she was only telling the truth. she then gave me tips on how to change."

"well i'm glad you're finding yourself, girl." aisha comforted her, "it's like you're flipping the script, 'hawk-style'." aisha spoke, mimicking the eldest student in the dojo.

gioia laughed, her eyes brightening and smile wide. she and aisha found raymond hilarious for some reason. it wasn't the things he said, it's just the way he acted that had them cracking up each time.

"exactly." gioia agreed. "speaking of eli... are him and moon still going strong?"

"they broke up days ago." aisha shrugged, "not sure why you'd want to know."

"days? one day, five days? how many days is days?" gioia quizzed.

aisha gave her a look, "why?" she stared at her, examining her facial expressions. suddenly, aisha gasped, "your acting like you have a crush him."

"what? no." gioia shook her head, rolling her eyes.

"no... yes you probably do." aisha nodded, "i saw the way you looked when he was with moon at the party."

"i was happy for him."

"and how you stare at him for a little too long, and how you hugged him so tight on your last day!" aisha began to get excited, "how did i not see this before?"

"because you're over exaggerating it." gioia finalised.

"then why did your face light up when i told you they broke up?" aisha challenged.

"i-" gioia had no explanation for that accusation.

the bell of the dojo chimed, signalising someone had entered. hawk walked into the room, making aisha chuckle.
