Once Jess is done in the kitchen and mess hall she heads back to her cabin that she shares with her mom and sister. Upon returning back to the cabin Jess finds her sister rifling through their mom's clothes. "Uh, Mitchie, why are you going through mom's clothes?" Looking over at her mom, Jess gives her a questioning look but Connie just shrugs her shoulders in response, not knowing the reason either.
"Because", Mitchie said. "I need something to wear for open mic night".
"Well, why don't you just wear your own clothes?" Jess asked her older sister, confused as to why she refuses to wear her own clothes.
"Have you seen these kids? They have a lot". Mitchie responded as she got up from her bed and walked over the dresser. "My usual is not going to cut it".
"Oh, I think you look cute". Connie told her eldest daughter, who gave her a look. "in a non-mom way. Totally". Mitchie then pulled out their mom's green button down shirt.
"This, this is safe". Mitchie said.
"It's also mine". Connie reminder her daughter. Mitchie then sat down on the edge of her mom's bed and began to put on her mom's earrings. "Honey wear your own clothes. You'll be fine". Connie then scoffed as she began to mess with her older daughter's hair. "Be yourself". Connie then looked over and saw the earrings that Mitchie was putting into her ears. "Oh, those are pretty". Mitchie smiled as she continued to get ready for the open mic.
Connie giving up on her daughter trying to impress some 'rich kids' at the moment then turns to her youngest daughter. "And how was my youngest daughter's first day at camp?"
"It was fine. I made a new friend yesterday". Jess said.
"Oh, you did. Honey, that's fantastic!" Connie exclaimed.
She that her youngest daughter had trouble making friends of her own. So, she was happy to hear that Jess was branching out a little bit and starting to make actual friends of her own that she didn't meet or befriend through Mitchie.
Jess nodded and continued, "Her name is Caitlyn".
"Oh sweetie, that's so wonderful. I am so proud of you". Connie said hugging her daughter tightly making her giggle. "Now, are you going to go through my clothes as well?"
Jess laughs and shakes her head, "No. I actually would like to wear my own clothes. Unlike my sister I actually prefer to be myself". Mitchie glanced over her shoulder at Jess and rolled her eyes as Jess gave her a smug look. Jess grabbed her bag from her bed that had her clothes in it and then walked into the bathroom to shower and get ready for open mic.
After about thirty minutes of so, Jess finished showering and getting ready. When she was done she walked out of the bathroom to see her sister standing impatiently waiting for her. "Let's go". Mitchie said once she noticed that Jess was dressed and ready to go. The two girls then said goodbye to their mom and left the cabin with Mitchie dragging Jess to the mess hall.
