Togata was nervous. Well, of course he was, but there was more than one reason for him to feel that way.
First off, Midoriya wasn't going to be bound up, and the drugs would wear off by the time the villain reaches the room. That would mean that, should he change his mind, without any care for anyone, he could escape and never return again.
Second off, Togata was going to ask him to talk everything out again. Sure, it hadn't worked last time, and sure, Midoriya was way more closed off than he had been before he was found out, but there was still a chance that this might work. And if it didn't...he would just have to keep trying. The thought wasn't half as reassuring as he'd hoped, though, and neither were All Might's words.
"Young Togata, it will be fine." All Might attempted to soothe the younger blond's nerves, setting a hand on his shoulder. "With everyone's aim to protect you, there's no way he can hurt you."
"I know." Togata simply stated, possibly a little more abruptly than he should. His leg kept bouncing in denial to his statement, and All Might simply sighed silently as he stood straight, glancing at Nighteye suggestively. Nighteye simply pursed his lips and turned his head away from All Might, knowing all too well that no amount of reassurance could work right now. Unlike the generous, former number one hero, Nighteye didn't believe that most things could be resolved with supportive speeches. Togata...he wasn't quite like that either.
And although it may not be obvious to some, Nighteye was way closer to Togata than All Might had ever been, and ever will be.
All Might saw Togata as his successor, as a bright student who would hold the future of all of Japan. In other words, the idol, the person people would look up to. All Might didn't know him for as long, though, and certainly hadn't taught him for as long as Nighteye had.
Even so, Togata clearly warmed up to the symbol of peace. Nighteye could see it in his eyes whenever Togata looked at him and talked to him. Togata was sincere and just as enthusiastic about becoming the number one hero as All Might was, and there was no lying or faking in the relationship he and All Might had built.
However, the way Togata looked at Nighteye was different, and as selfish as that might sound, Nighteye knew that Togata looked at him as more than just his mentor—he looked at him as a figure whom he could trust unrelentingly.
There was more to them than there was for All Might and Togata, and that's why Nighteye stayed quiet. All Might may not understand and even think that Nighteye was being cold, but Nighteye knew he was doing the right thing..
A warning knock sounded on the door, and the soldiers that were standing at the door all snapped straighter, the sound of guns snatching into their positions filling the room. Togata pursed his lips as he watched the door, feeling a cold streak of sweat roll down the side of his face.
A few moments passed, and finally, the door opened. A few soldiers stepped in before him, but Midoriya appeared soon after, his eyes lowered as he walked into the center of the room, in front of Togata. Togata slowly stood up, All Might's hand slipping off his shoulder.
"Hey." Togata greeted Midoriya as he glanced at Ochako. So he already knows everything, Togata realized. Hopefully the news of the conditions he was freed under haven't been too rough on him. Midoriya's mood was definitely the independent factor in this hell of an equation, but from what he knew, it may be...quite unstable.
"Hey." Midoriya greeted back. The two stood in silence, and Togata could feel the pairs of eyes on him—on them. The heroes, the soldiers, the principal, they were all watching them. It unnerved him, but he knew Midoriya must be excruciated.
"Step forward." The soldier behind Midoriya ordered as he nudged him with his rifle. Midoriya glanced back sharply but simply did as he was told, his expression gloomy as he faced the ground.
