"Holá, Luisa," you greeted.
Luisa turned to you and smiled at you back. You furrowed your eyebrows when you saw she was slightly paled. "Holá, (Y/N). Need a hand?" she asked as she carried the pile of bricks in one hand. She handed a hand to you, wanting to carry your boxes.
You tilted your head. "Uh, no, thanks. I'm fine," you politely declined. Luisa shrugged and began to walk away. You quickly walked beside her. "Hey, Lu. Are you alright?" you questioned, worried.
Luisa raised an eyebrow at you. "Yeah, I'm fine. Why?" she questioned back.
"Uh... You seem kinda pale. Are you sick?" you continued to gaze at her. She quickly looked away from you when she heard those words leaving your mouth.
"Yeah, yeah! I'm totally fine! I'm totally not sick, at all!" she chuckled nervously.
"Lu. If you're sick, maybe taking a break is a good idea," you suggested.
She put down the pile of bricks from earlier and smiled at you again. "I'm fine, really," she tried to convince. And of course, it didn't work.
"Luisa," you called, putting down the boxes and approached her again. "Lu, if there's anything's wrong and I mean anything-"
"Nothing's wrong!" she yelled, interrupting you. You were startled by the sudden yell. Her eyes went wide as she quickly chuckled nervously. "Oh, wow. I, uh... didn't mean tuh..."
"Lu..."
She shook her head. She leaned down and patted your head. Instantly, you felt incredible warmth from her palm radiating to your head. "It's just that, uh, I'm fine. Really fine. So, you don't have to worry," she exclaimed and starting to pull away.
You quickly grabbed her by the collar, yanking her close to your face. She was surprised by your action. Then, you set a palm on her forehead. "Lu, you're burning! How long have you been out here?" you questioned, pulling her towards the Madrigal's house.
"A couple of hours," she answered shortly. "Why?"
You looked at her in disbelief, still not stop walking. "It's hot out here. And you must've been dehydrated!"
"Why are we walking back to my house?" she asked quickly.
"We're gonna put you into bed. And I'll bring you some cold towels and drinks so that you can cool your body down," you answered.
In a matter of less than a second, you felt your hand was jerked away and Luisa gave you a panicked look. "No! I have so much work to do!" she stated.
"I know, I know. And I understand. But, you can't force your body like this. You need to rest or else you'll become sicker than you already are," you tried to reason with her.
Luisa looked around. "But, what if Abuela sees me resting? What would she think? She might think I'm lazy. She might even be more disappointed in me than ever," she whimpered.
Quickly, you pushed your body forward and gave Luisa a hug. She sniffled and hugged you back. You could here your bones cracking but you let her be.
"If she comes around, I'll deal with her, okay? So, don't worry," you pecked her forehead lovingly.
She slowly nodded and sniffled. "Okay..."
"Now, let's get you to bed," you said.
Luisa nodded and continued to carry you all the way to her room.
---
"Your fever is worse than I thought," you stated as you set the cold cloth on her forehead. She whimpered as she closed her eyes. "Poor you," you put a strand out of her forehead as you watched sweats began to cover her skin. "Maybe it's a heat-stroke?" you questioned yourself. You leaned forward and pecked her forehead. "I'll be back."
She grabbed your wrist with eyes widened. "Where are you going?" she asked anxiously.
You patted her hand that was holdig your wrist. "Just to bring you some drinks. You need to stay hydrated."
Slowly, Luisa let go of your wrist. You smiled at her and walked out of her room, closing the door afterwards. Walking down the stairs, you proceed to walk inside of the kitchen.
The tiles moved as Casita handed you a clear glass. You thanked it and grabbed it before filling it with water. Walking outnof the kitchen, you began to panic when you saw Alma was walking inside Luisa's room after knocking.
"No, no, no, no!" you mumbled.
Carefully but fastly, you climbed the stairs with the glass of water in hand and towards Luisa's room. Entering her room while panting heavily, you looked at Alma with wide eyed.
Alma was kneeling beside Luisa's bed as she fixed the wettened cloth on her forehead. Alma looked at you as soon as you entered the room in panicked.
"Abuela..." you panted.
"(Y/N)," she called back. She gazed down towards your hands. "May I?" she asked.
You looked down at the glass of water. Hesitantly, you gave the glass to Alma. Alma smiled and turned to Luisa. You bit your lower lip, staring at the never-ending sweating Luisa that was on her bed.
Alma helped Luisa to lift her head before helping her to drink. Luisa swallowed the drinks in a few gulps before resting back in her bed.
Alma stood up on her feet and looked down at her grandchild in worry. "I should've not ask her to work today. It's too sunny," Alma spoke.
Your eyes widened slightly at her words, not expecting it. You've had always assumed the worse when it comes to Alma. "Uh, yeah. But, she'll be fine," you stated.
Alma turned to you and nodded. "You're right. Let's give her some room to rest," she set a hand on your back and both walked outside. You gave Luisa a last look before closing the door.
You turned to Alma. "I'm sorry," you spoke.
Alma's eyes widened slightly at this. "What for?"
You bit your inner cheek. "I know this is rude and bad of me... but I always assumed the worse of you. So, I wanna apologise. You're pretty kind."
Alma let out a giggle. You looked at her in surprised. "Oh, (Y/N). This is not the first time I've heard from you," she said.
Your mind quickly goes blank. "Huh?"
"Don't you remember? You always tell me whenever I acted right to you," she continued to chuckle.
"I- I did? Why can't I remember?"
She shrugged. "Must've been the sun," she answered shortly. "Come on, let's grab a drink," she invited.
You looked up at her. "O- Okay."
Then, you looked at Luisa's glowing door. You smiled.
See, Luisa? I knew I could deal with her. So, you don't have to worry anymore.
