I couldn't help but fiddle with my side braid the entire algebra class.
It may not be the world's prettiest braid, but it's the world's most special braid to me. And that's what counts, right?
"Miss Collins!" The algebra teacher called out my name.
I immediately snapped out of my trance. "Y-yes mam?"
She passed me the white board marker. "Solve x." She plainly pointed.
Okay, pull it together Sky. You didn't spend your whole sunday doing Maths just to fail one Maths question now.
I slid off my seat and made the dreaded walk to the white board.
I took a deep breath, and before I finally written a faint number, the school bell rang.
Saved by the bell.
All the students stood up and left. I dropped the white board marker down. "Better luck next time I guess."
"Nope young lady. Finish this or your not leaving the class." She shut the class door behind her.
Damn, what did I ever do to her.
My hand shivered as I held the white board marker in my hand. I didn't know the answer mainly because the question was a crossword puzzle by itself.
Solve x in terms of y.
Does that mean I solve x first? Or do I solve both?
The scary algebra teacher starred at me, and I convinced myself to just write something down. Anything is better than leaving it blank I guess.
"Skylar Collins. What is wrong with you. I've noticed you've been drifting to the Netherlands in my class. Are you on drugs?" She cocked an eyebrow.
"Of course not." I replied repulsively.
"Well, Cam is rather strong in his Math subjects, maybe you can get him to tutor you." She suggested.
"I rather not." I turned my head away.
"Well I think you need tutoring one way or another."
I shrugged my shoulder.
She tapped her pen against her chin. She gave me a long questioning look.
"Do you know who's Kevin Hart?" She asked.
"Yes." I nodded.
"He too is fairly good in Maths. From now on, you'll be staying back for an hour after school so you can work on your Maths."
"But..." I was against it.
"No buts. It's either that or I call your parents. What will it be?" She threatened me.
"What if he doesn't want to teach me." I added.
"Nothing you should worry about. Mr Hart currently owes me five detentions. So instead of detentioning him, he can spend that time teaching you." She grinned.
Oh come on, out of all people. It had to be him.
This was a losing war. I gave in and just nodded.
I ducked my head as I left the classroom. But suddenly my facial expressions were written over by a big old smirk.
Kevin is going to be so pissed when he finds out.
