I've been working at Mitsuki Publishing for about a week now and everyone I've met has been amiable and an overall pleasure to be around. I was expecting there to be at least one jerk amongst the group but so far, no one has given me any trouble. I've even managed to make friends with a few of my coworkers, especially Rish and The Twins, Alissa and Aaliyah. They aren't actually twins, but they act alike and spend so much time together, everyone started calling them The Twins.

Or at least that's the story I was told.

A knock sounds at my door and I looked up to see Rish, a charismatic smile on his face. "Hey, a few of us are heading out for lunch. Wanna join?"

"Sure, lemme finish up this comment real quick," I replied, turning my attention back to my laptop screen and doing just that.

I saved the chapter I was working on, closed my laptop, and grabbed my jacket before following Rish to the elevator. It's not cold outside, but restaurants tend to be a bit too chilly for me. Besides, I can never be too sure with my condition. Temperature dysregulation is a symptom I have and that means I always have a jacket and a change of clothes on me at all times.

Rish and I make small talk about how our editing is coming along during the short elevator ride. He's currently editing supernatural mystery about a curse that's befallen a werewolf pack and the only person that can help them is a rouge they don't fully trust. If I weren't so obsessed with the murder-mystery/romance I was given, I would've asked him to trade stories with me.

The elevator opens to the lobby where I can see our group of colleagues standing together, chatting with one another. I'm surprised to see Maryanne and Mitsuki talking with The Twins and decided to ask Rish about it.

"Oh, they always eat with us. Status doesn't mean much here and they don't mind mingling with us common folk." He leans in closer to me and whispers, "They've told me it gets lonely on that floor by themselves."

I nodded my head in understanding. If I were stuck on a floor with only one other person, I'd get lonely too. I just wasn't expecting them to interact with their employees because of my experience at my other company. While my boss and her receptionist were friendly, they never made much of an effort to get to know their employees as people.

Sorry Marla, but I definitely like working here more.

"Rish, Kindle, hurry up, my stomach is about to cave in!" Alissa shouted, causing some people to stare at her while others laugh at what she said. I shake my head at her antics, but follow instructions and join the group.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

"Does Panera Bread sound good to everyone? It's not too far from here," Mitsuki said.

"Yeah, sure, that works. Just feed me!" Alissa said, already making her way out the lobby door.

Rolling his eyes, Mitsuki follows after her, holding the door open for the rest of us to exit as we make our way to Panera Bread. Alissa and Aaliyah are leading the way with Maryanne not too far behind them. Rish is slightly ahead of me and Mitsuki trying to get the girls to slow down a bit, but of course they aren't listening.

I laugh at his efforts, earning a glare from him and a chuckle out of Mitsuki.

"I thought you were on my side," Rish said, slightly turning around to look at me.

"I am, but it's funny to watch you struggle."

He huffs, shaking his head. "And I thought we were friends."

I stick my tongue out at him and he reciprocates before turning around to focus on the front.

"You and Rish seem to be getting along well," Mitsuki said, a gentle smile on his face.
