The palace was in commotion.

Lady Elena was found unconscious in her chambers while the crown prince was attacked with an unknown entity that almost killed him.

If it weren't for the priest's holy magic, he would have surely been eliminated by the dead sword master.

Asher sighed as he rubbed his temples. His body was wrapped in bandages as the dead entity's sword aura penetrated his skin and he got a few bruises too.

"Your highness, it will take us longer to heal the decaying parts!" A priest spoke which made him frown.

Small patches on his skin were rotting due to the dark entity's aura and the priests of the temple are doing their best to heal him.

Holy magic was working, but it wasn't efficient.

His wounds were slowly starting to patch up but it was taking too long. The arrival of the winter nights festival's opening was getting nearer and nearer.

Asher could not postpone it just because he got a few wounds and an unknown assailant attacked him in the middle of the night.

"How is Lady Elena doing?" He asked as he flinched when another wound was healed by holy magic. It started to produce a sizzling sound and it truly hurt.

"The lady is fine, your highness. It wasn't sure what happened but it seemed like something shocked her to the point where she lost consciousness. There are no wounds on her body too." The priest spoke and Asher sighed in relief.

"How about-"

"What happened?" The person he was about to mention did not even have to be spoken by his tongue as Pier showed up inside the palace's infirmary.

Pier's gaze drifted towards Asher and his eyebrows raised when he saw the state the crown prince was in.

He looked miserable.

Some parts of Asher's face were peeled off and there were also rotting patches on his skin.

His arms were covered in bruises while the same patches of rotting flesh were seen.

"Your highness." He immediately went to Asher's direction but Asher held his hand out even if it hurt him.

"Don't come near me, Pier. Your clothes would get dirtied by my flesh." He spoke in a weak voice.

Pier paused for a second as he stared at all of the priests inside the room and he started to ask questions.

"What happened?" He asked and one of them instantly responded.

"An assailant showed up in the middle of the knight and started attacking the crown prince, young master." A priest spoke and Pier had another questioning look on his face while turning his head towards Asher.

"The said assailant was an undead sword master that came to fulfil its master's wishes according to his highness' experience."

"Undead?" Pier asked and they all nodded.

"Good thing we arrived at the scenario at the right time and drove the entity away, young master." They spoke in relief while catching glances to the silent prince.

"Drove away? You did not kill it?" Pier asked and they all shook their heads.

"The assailant was too powerful to be eliminated by our holy magic instantly, young master. We needed a longer time to completely kill it."

Sighing, Pier nodded his head.

It could not go this way.

If people were to panic because of the dark entity that even the crown prince could not defeat, the winter nights festival's celebration would have problems.
