We stepped near the door- which had a huge H on it carved against the wood. The door knob twisted and it opened.
Grandma Jo was standing with her fingers tied with red lips and a powdered face. She was smiling. Her grey hair was tied back. Her eyes were gray; like Mr. Herman's. A necklace styled her neck and small ruby earrings were on her ears. She was wearing a red coat with a white top and a red skirt.
"Grandma Jo," Kyle said. "My friends,"
"Well I know this one," she said, with a heavy accent. "Michael,"
"Yes!!!!" Mike said, and flung his arms around her. "Aww, I missed you,"
"Yes-yes, you did," she said. "But.... Why is your hair blue?"
"I told you," Mike grinned. "It's a gift from above."
Grandma Jo turned to me.
I smiled. "Hi,"
Her eyebrows winged upwards. "My, my, look at you," she squeezed my hand and smiled. "You look stunning, my dear. Kyle,"
She was swinging my arm back and forth while she talked. "This is the first time you brought a girl,"
"Um, yeah." He said. "This is Destiny."
"Oh," she said, smiling more. She looked back and forth between us. "Destiny," she mumbled.
After a short awkward pause she said, "Come inside, children. Tell me what happened."

We insisted on a hot shower before explaining anything.
After that, I borrowed some clothes from hers. It was a green frock.
I brushed back my hair. My face seemed wilted. Stains of tears were still visible.
If only Misty was here, I thought. She would've let me braid her hair and she'd braid mine into a crow's nest.
I touched my necklace.
Devon, I thought. That creep. Wish-
I forced myself to stop and walked out of the room. The stairs were silver. The walls had portraits of Mr. Herman and his family. I skipped down into a massive living room, with minimalistic, yet red furniture. The TV was placed in front. There were lamp shades hanging and a huge family portrait. I moved towards it-
"Des?" I turned to see Kyle, in a grey shirt and ripped white jeans.
"Hey," I turned.
He walked forward looking at me from head to toe. "Who gave you this?"
"Your-your grandma," I spluttered. "Is there anything wrong?"
"Nope," Kyle said.
His face flushed light pink along his cheek bone. He studied me without a frown.
He looked up at the portrait. "You were looking at this?"
"Well, not-"
"That's me," he said. "I was seven,"
Cute, I thought. He had the same bright eyes when he was younger. Except he was super short and he was smiling. Smiling from all his heart.
Beside him, there was a woman with blonde hair. And blue eyes. She had her head against Mr. Herman's shoulder. She looked like Kyle; her smile looked like his.
