Chapter 9: Old Flame
Three weeks before my due date Michael took me out on our first real date, it was totally official, I was so excited. I didn’t know where he was taking me but he had said to dress nice. So Sarah helped me pick out the perfect outfit. Black maternity slacks and a teal green maternity shirt the style was meant to show off my pregnant belly, since Michael thought it was beautiful I wanted to wear something form fitting, then I slipped into my faithful black ballet flats. I applied some light make-up, I mostly went for the natural look, then I curled my hair and put it in a sparkly clip. There I was ready, and just in time too because Sarah came in and told me that Michael was waiting downstairs.
I waddled down the stairs, it was hard not to waddle these days, I smiled when I saw Michael, oh wow that guy could stop traffic. He wore black slacks and a light brown dress shirt, he was holding a single long stem red rose, he smiled back at me and said “wow Kells, you look gorgeous” as he handed me the rose.
“its so beautiful Michael, you really think I'm gorgeous? I feel big”
he laughed softly “sweetheart, you are beautiful”
“thanks Michael”
“are you ready?”
“yes, lets go” so we walked out to his car, I got in as he held the door for me. Once he got in we were off.
We went to a steakhouse, we started with an appetizer of fried shrimp, we talked and held hands, he asked me if I was still reading,
“yeah, I finished the Twilight Saga already”
“wow, what are you reading now?”
“I started on a christian book now, Sarah said it's really good, it's called Redeeming Love”
“yeah I've heard Sarah talk about that one”
“what are you reading now?”
“it's called The Lost Kingdom, it's by Clint Kelly”
“it sounds cool, is it any good?”
“yeah I really like it, it's an adventure type genre”
“it sounds cool”
well as we were waiting for our food to come I had to use the bathroom. duh, I'm pregnant, it's what we do.
I came out of the bathroom and I walked right into someone, I apologized as I looked up into his face. 'Oh Crap' I thought, I ran right into Chris.
“whoa, uh, h-hey t-there gorgeous” oh great, he was drunk.
“hi Chris, what are you doing here?
“I-I'm on a-a d-date”
“oh great, that’s nice well I'll let you go then”
“h-hey, wh-whats your hurry? How about a-a l-little fun, w-what do you say s-sexy?”
“Chris, your drunk, and we're both on dates with other people, and you dumped me because I wouldnt get rid of your baby”
“I-I w-was wrong honey, c-c'mon” he started walking towards me, I backed up until I was cornered 'oh crap' I wish Michael was sitting closer, I was starting to get scared. I looked around for someone who might help but we were in a more secluded section, so no one was around.
“Chris, please, just let me go back to my date” I pleaded.
“n-no” he slurred “I want you now” he grabbed the back of my head and forced me closer to him, his breath smelled of alcohol and cigarettes, I thought I was going to be sick, with his other hand he started feeling me up with clumsy movements, I was really scared now, I started crying “Chris, please don’t do this” I pleaded. He laughed and kissed me hard, bruising my lower lip, I winced in pain. His hand reached my swollen stomach and he looked at me “s-so yer still c-carryin' that thing are you?”
