A trip to Hawaii with the love of you life sounds amazing, right? And it was... for the first few days. They had been having so much fun until things took a turn for the worst.
Chungha had fallen ill, and the toilet had become her best friend for a night as she constantly spewed her guts up into it. George had never been the best with vomit, the sight alone made him want to bring up everything in his own stomach.
So, this wasn't a good predicament for either of the two. Still, George pulled up his big boy pants and made himself her carer for the remainder of the trip — it was only another night before they had to fly home.
"How are you not complaining? I'd be crying that I'm on my death bed right now," George spoke in disbelief. He stood at the end of their bed, hands on his hips watching as his girlfriend cradled the bucket closer to her.
She gave him the best smile she could muster. "Men are a weaker species."
"I-" George went to argue, but with the look he received in response, he shut his mouth immediately. "I think the curtains are a lovely shade of badge, don't you?"
She managed a chuckle, but immediately heaved making George cringe and look away. Immediately feeling guilty for his lack of help, George perched himself at the end of their bed and settled a hand in her ankle. He was grimacing, looking at the bucket of vomit making Chungha kick him.
"What the bleedin' hell did you do that for?" He asked her, rubbing his side with a frown. The use of English made her smile, his accent sending shivers down her spine—oh how she loved having a British boyfriend.
"Looking at me in disgust," she replied simply before dropping her head back with a loud groan.
"I wasn't looking at you in disgust, I was looking at the bucket," he told her.
Chungha hummed in response, all of her energy had drained. She wasn't as bad as she was last night, but she wasn't okay either. She had taken tests, all of which came back negative much to the relief of George.
Whilst she rested her eyes, George made himself useful and started to tidy up the room. He helped her brush through her hair to avoid knots, and even tied it up into a bun — it wasn't the stablest bun, but Chungha appreciated his attempt. After that, he replaced her ice pack for her head and then lastly, he was faced with the one task he didn't want.
Cleaning out her sick bucket.
He placed one of Chungha's hair clips onto his nose to block out the smell and then held his breath as he quickly disposed of the contents inside of the bucket before giving it a clean.
He heaved eight times, but he finally got it done.
"Do you want anything at all?"
"A wedding ring."
George's eyes widened. "Re-really? I'll go buy one if you would like? This wasn't how I planned it, and I don't know if we're ready but if you want-"
"I was kidding, you're so awkwardly cute." Chungha chuckled at how flustered George had become. It was an honest joke, she hadn't been expecting for him to take her seriously.
George let out a breath.
And then, came an unexpected buzzing against his leg. Frowning, he slid his hand into his pocket and fished out his phone only to see that his mother was requesting a FaceTime.
He answered with no hesitation.
"Hi m-"
"Put her on the phone."
Quite confused but still wanting to do as told first time he was asked, George handed the phone over to Chungha, who held it weakly in her hands and forced a smile.
"Mrs Le—"
"Chungha, Darling! I heard that you were sick and I can't even begin to imagine how unhelpful Draco Malfoy, over there had been!"
George's frown depended as he reached up to tug at the strands of blonde hair on his head. Was that an insult? He really didn't know. Chungha chuckled painfully.
"He's actually not been too bad other than staring at me in disgust everytime i throw up."
"He's the model of his father, you know that? When I was pregnant with the twins, I vomited a lot and he would refuse to hold my hair back without crying. Believe me, I can't even imagine what the neighbours thought. Dramatics run in the family, I suppose."
George remembered his step mother's pregnancy very well. It was incredibly hard, especially since it was her first but she was strong, hardly ever complained. His father, on the other hand, was going to be a second time dad and still had a panic attack whenever she did as much as cough.
"Anyways," Mrs Lee continued as both of the twins moved beside her to see who she was talking to. Chungha waved at the two boys, who were the spitting image of George Lee. All of the Lee boys took their looks from their father. "Have you been having enough rest?"
"I have done nothing but sleep the day away," Chungha replied. "I think I've had far too much sleep."
"There's no such thing as too much rest when you're sick. George Lee, I expect you to treat her like royalty whilst she's unwell."
George resisted the urge to scoff. "As if I don't treat her like that when she's well."
Chungha tossed her pillow at him causing him to fall back dramatically.
"Mama! I think I just broke a bone!"
"Serves you right," Mrs Lee told him.
He sat straight up on the floor with a pout whilst Chungha laughed manically in her bed. It's the first time he had seen her smile so wide since she got sick, so he was appreciative of his mother.
He has no idea what he would do without that woman.
