When we got to the Women's Health Center, it was closed and had been for a while, but Burkhardt still made us get out of the car and wait by the locked doors. A texted someone then five minutes later, the door made a noise then opened. Instinctively, Sam tightens his arm around me. We were greeted by a woman in a lab coat.

"It's nice to see you again, Jacob," she smiles at Burkhardt.

"Likewise. I really appreciate you doing this for us, Krystal."

Krystal turns to Sam and me. "You must be the soon-to-be parents."

Sam softens a little-a little. "Sam."

"I'm Sidra." I pull away from Sam to shake Krystal's hand.

"It's nice to meet you. Come, let's go inside." We follow her inside. She locks the door then we head upstairs. It was kinda creepy, the only lights on were the ones in the hallways and stairwell we took, so every time I glanced down a passing corridor, it was pitch black. Normally, I don't mind a dark room or hall but given how we're in a two-story, very large building, I'm a little creeped out. But Sam kept an arm around my waist and me cool.

We enter a room and that's when Burkhardt decided to part ways. Krystal closes the door, leaving Burkhardt alone in the hall.

"He's fine," Sam whispers to me after taking in my frown. I nod then climb on the medical chair. "Comfortable?" He smiles, towering over me.

I place my hand on his chest. "I don't like the extra height you have on me."

He chuckles. "I'm six, three, and you're five, three. I always have extra height on you."

"Shush and grab a chair."

"Whatever you want." He leans down and pecks my lips. He grabs and squeezes my hand before stepping away to grab a chair. He picks it up, brings it over, then sits down. I thank him, and he grabs my hand again, nodding.

"Ready?" Krystal smiles. I nod. She takes her seat on a rolling stool and moves to the other side of my chair. "Okay, so the machines are ready, all you have to do is lift your shirt and pull down your pants a little." Following her simple order, I expose my stomach. "This is going to be a little cold." She spreads a gel on my stomach, and I let out a small yelp at the coldness. Sam laughs.

With her eyes locked on the screen, Krystal grabs the transducer and rubs the end of it on my stomach, spreading the coldness. I squeeze Sam's hand.

"Do you see anything?" I ask Krystal. Why hasn't she shown us the screen yet?

"Oh, I see something." A smile spreads across her face. "Do twins run in either of your families?"

"Sam has twin sisters," I answer. "Is it...? Are we having twins?" She nods, turning the screen to face Sam and me. I take in the sight of the two sacs of the ultrasound and, instantly, there are tears of joy in my eyes. I turn to Sam, he looks utterly shock. "Sam?"

He blinks rapidly then turns to me. "Yeah, baby?"

"Twins, is that okay?"

"Yeah, of course. Thank you, Sidra." He leans over and pecks my lips.

Krystal explains to us which baby will be called Baby A and Baby B based on its position. She measured the sacs and the babies. "Baby B is huge," she says. "Probably gets its size from their father."

Sam chuckles. "Do you know how far along she is?"

"I'll say about six or seven weeks."

Sam and I turn to each other. Six to seven weeks? That's kinda hard to tell exactly when I got pregnant. I was hoping to know for some reason, and based on Sam's confused expression, he was too. He places a soft kiss on my lips then stands up and leans into me. We turn our attention back to the screen.
