You and Jean sat down at the table again, picking up one book between you both to share.

Every so often one of you would begin a conversation about the book or gossip, glimpsing at the other to check for their reactions as to what you were reading.

The book was okay - you gave it that.

To be honest, the only two reasons as to why you carried on reading it were to spend time with your friend, and try to get a little insight on Levi's interests.

You sighed, resting your jaw on your hand as he skipped to the next page.

"This book isn't boring you, is it?" The fawn-haired man smiled, "We could pick up something else, if you want."

"It's fine. It's just really wordy, that's all."

He scoffed cockily, "What? Can't handle literature?"

You rolled your eyes, "Calm down, it's just a shitty book."

He chuckled lightly, closing the front page, "Fair enough, to be honest, I lost the plot after chapter two."
You laughed, watching as his expression eased, yourself noticing instantly as you felt your smile begin to slowly fade.

"Erm-.." You shook your head with your eyebrows furrowing into a slight cringe, "Heh. You wanna get another book, or should we just go back for supper? It is beginning to get la-"

He gave you a weak smile, his large body shuffling closer to yours, "It's fine. I'm happy to just talk to you."

"Heh-.. right." You brushed off your skirt.

He relaxed back into his chair, crossing his arms over his chest, "Anywho-.. I never got chance to ask you how your finding it here."

You laughed, "I've been here for seven months and now you're asking me?"

He raised his hands, chuckling beside you: "Hey, be glad I'm asking you at all. Now answer."

You shrugged, "I like it, it's different from Marley." You softly replied, "Plus, I'm getting along well with everyone."

"I bet."

"Yeah-.. Heh."
You watched his expression ease a little more, before beginning to lean in.

You felt his lips drift against yours, barely touching before you pressed your hands against his chest, pushing him away with a stunned expression as to what had just happened so quickly.
"Jean.. listen." You shook your head, "I'm sorry if I gave you the wrong idea."

He swiftly cringed at what he had just done and how you'd reacted to his attempt of kissing you.

He pressed his lips together, leaning back into his chair, "This.. That was-.. Oh, god." He mumbled, his cheeks glowing a light shade of red, "I'm so embarrassed, that was really weird of me, I'm sorry-... I'm just really bad at reading people."

You gave him a warm smile, feeling slightly guilty despite it not being your fault, "It's fine. But seriously, it's getting late, let's just go eat and then tomorrow we'll forget this even happened.. alright?"

He nodded, giving you a queasy grin as you stood up, "Yep."

"Forget about what?"

Both you and Jean flinched at the deep voice behind you both, your eyes instantly drawn to a figure leant against the bookshelf.

Your eyes widened as your Captain glared at the two of you: you feared how much he might've seen.
You began to lie to your own boyfriend, "Forget about that dumb book we just read.. it was ridiculous. It was about this-!"
