Chapter 23

I looked down at my phone to another text from Kaston. He had been apologizing since our upsetting lunch. He even had Tilly reasoning with me.

"We've been friends for so long, to let Cain throw it away because he manipulated Kas into-" I cut her third rant short.

"I get it, I'm not throwing anything away. Kas and I have been friends since the crib. I'm just a little mad is all." I admitted.

"As you should be. I just didn't want our gang breaking up for good." She sighed in relief. I stared at her while she fiddled with her coffee lid. I sometimes forgot how large a part of Tilly's life we were. Her family consisted of three people, her mother, and us. My break from Kaston's friendship was more detrimental to her than I had first thought. I reached across the table to put my hand on her arm.

"We're good, I'll message him tonight." I promised. Though it brought a smile to her face I wasn't doing it for her. I didn't like being on bad terms with Kaston for more than 24 hours. It felt wrong, it hovered over me like a cloud. And I was ready to give him another try.

"Althea Vidar to the office. Althea Vidar, to the front office." I heard my name over the speaker. Tilly wished me good luck as I grabbed my things. I scrolled through Kaston's apology, hoping he would go join Tilly for lunch. The front office came into view and I stopped in my tracks seeing Arlo in his nice fitted suit, his jacket over his forearm with one hand stuffed into his tight pocket. He was effortlessly making small talk with the office ladies as I made my way closer.

"Don't forget to come back inside and sign her in when she returns." The younger office aid spoke, tossing her dark hair over her shoulder. She had pretty blue eyes, they reminded me of my aunt the way she fluttered them.

"Will do, Miss... I don't believe you have a name tag." He gave a friendly smile. She was about to give her name but I ungracefully interrupted.

"Miss Ramsey. And my mom has never come inside to sign me in..." I turned me head toward her. I could feel Arlo's smirk stain the side of my face.

"New policy." She lied. I nodded in false understanding.

"We should go Mr. Henson, don't wanna leave Mrs. Henson waiting too long..." I beamed a sweet smile. Yes, I was jealous. I wasn't trying to hide it from him. Mrs. Ramsey stiffened and bid us goodbye.

"Mrs. Henson, does this mean you'd like to take my name after our ceremony?" He asked in amusement.

"I've got too much pride for that. We can hyphenate the children's names though." I smirked. His gaze wandered my face, his smile falling slightly. Oh god, did the kid comment freak him out?

"Sorry if that made you uncomfortable." I admitted. Before I could ramble, Arlo shook his head, still staring down at me.

"Not uncomfortable at all. I think I've been so wrapped up in you that I didn't truly realize I would someday soon have pups of my own." He pulled his stare away, lost in the idea of it all.

"Well not too soon... I've got seven years of Alpha training ahead of me. I don't think they allow pregnant Lycans to train..." I chuckled. He turned as we made it to the car.

His hand finding my stomach as he swiveled behind me, leaning his face into my hair. He slid his hand over my lower abdomen as if feeling our imaginary baby inside. A warmth filled my gut as he whispered in my ear. "We could always try anyway." He whispered seductively. I almost moaned at the thought of him putting his seed deep inside me. He let out a smooth chuckle. He was fucking with me. I shoved his hand.

"Asshole." I muttered getting into the car.

"I didn't realize my little Thea wanted my baby so bad." He smirked from the drivers seat. I rolled my eyes. Why wouldn't I want his baby? To be honest the thought of carrying his child one day made me feel complete. Obviously that step in our relationship wouldn't happen for a very long time considering the roles Arlo and I will take on for the pack.
