A/N: SPOILERS IN THIS CHAPTER IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN CRIMINAL MINDS UP TO AT LEAST SEASON 12

*Spencer*

Mac true to his word spent the past few days explaining some of the basics. Now he wants to take a quick break from the topic. Doesn't want to overload me with information I guess. However, my curiosity and questions have only grown about this topic. I can't wait until the next discussion, but I understand that we need a breather. Need a change in topic. Especially after that last talk. My brain was playing something through my head. Something else that I focused on instead of Mac. A think similar to a daydream but almost more real. It sent my entire body of nerve endings on fire. I couldn't focus much on Mac's answer to my question. One I didn't mead to vocalize in the first place. It just kinda slipped past my mental block/filter. But Mac didn't seem angry or offended by it. Just continued to answer it.

Currently, we are sitting in a coffee shop asking basic get-to-know-you questions. Is this what happens on a first date? Are we on a date right now?

"Spencer." I focused back on Mac.

"Sorry." I whispered.

"You zoned out on me again. Are you okay?"

"Today my brain doesn't seem to want to slow down. It feels like it actually sped up."

"Do you have days like this often?"

"No."

SPOILER

"When was the last time?" After Maeve. The entire time I mourned and then after. I couldn't sleep because of the dream. My brain stayed on alert for days before the team found out and talked to me about confronting it. To take the first step.

"Uh... after my ex died. The day she died was the first time I ever saw her in person. I..." I took a deep breath turning my head away.

"Whoa, hey hey. It's alright. you didn't have to answer me exactly Spencer. You could've given a vague response and I would've been fine with that answer." He said getting up and sitting next to me instead of across from me like he was originally. I felt his hand on my shoulder and I tensed for barely a second, but it was long enough for him to remove his hand.

"Spencer, normally when your brain overwork itself what happens?"

"It plays a memory over and over again. After her, it was her death. Most of the time it's me and Tobias Hinkel."

"Who?"

"One of the unsubs we caught years back. He kidnapped me. Tortured me. Well, his father's personality did. After that experience, I became addicted to Dilaudid."

"Heroin." (No more spoliers)

I nodded looking back at his face. In his eyes. I wonder what he's doing.

"Mac?"

"Yes."

"What are you doing? You're not just observing anymore."

"Making a mental list of things about you. Important things for a topic we can discuss later." I need a distraction from my thoughts but I don't get how to do so. So much for a relaxing break. However, this is better having a singular person here instead of suffering alone at home with it.

"Spencer."

I focused back on Mac again.
"Little one, are you alright?" My brain went slightly fuzzy at the nickname.

"I need...."
"Need what?"

"Something else."

"To distract your brain and thought process?" I nodded. God, why am I having trouble speaking? It's hard to pick out simple words and phrases. I felt Mac's hand on my knee slowly applying pressure. Similar to when he put his entire body weight on me when we first met. I tried focusing on the hand, but it wasn't 100% working........
