The night was cold as you breathed in the air, hearing the chirping of the crickets and shuffling of nocturnal creatures. Though the moon could illuminate everything below it, you wore your hood, adorning as little as you could. These nights were rare, given the chance that there were fewer guards, the people were inside and above all - your father was nowhere near where you were. This chance had to be taken, no matter the cost.

You walked silently past a building before meeting up with Erwin, someone who's been a father figure to you ever since your own shunned you out of his life. And by any means would your father use you like business, as profit for his own kingdom.

"Is that you, my lady?" Erwin whispered softly, opening the door after hearing faint knocks.

"It is" you replied back, hurriedly entering once the door was open. You took your hood off, closing your eyes and reopening them after you sighed. "Have my belongings been prepared?"

Erwin gave a nod, "yes, they're right by the table, let me get it for you." He went to retrieve your bag of belongings on your trip to somewhere far away from this hellhole. Handing it to you, his eyes conveyed worry. "Are you sure this is the only way?"

You sighed, handling the bag before strapping it onto yourself. "It is, to get away from this kingdom and from being the wife of a man who is nothing but a bastard...I must leave..." you trailed off.

Erwin brought his arms up, wrapping you into a hug before placing a tender kiss on your forehead, hoping you a safe journey. "I'll miss you dearly" his voice slightly quivered, holding a tender tone that made you tear up. Be it that ever since your mother passed, such a tone was never spoken to you in such a long time. You clutched onto his attire, releasing warm tears as they seeped into his clothes. Of all these years you've known the limited amount of people you had, you loved him the most. Feeling you shake, he leaned back and cupped your face, smiling faintly. "I love you as my own daughter" he said, grazing his thumb to the corner of your eyes, wiping the tears that came out.

You whimpered, already missing his voice, his presence, and overall, him; a person who's been so much of a father to you that you wished he ruled your kingdom instead. "You were so much m-more of a father to me than my o-own" you trembled as you spoke, "I love you, I'll miss you so much."

He smiled and held you for a while before releasing you. "You must go, though this night has allowed you to come this far, anything can happen," he said, gesturing to you that the night was still dangerous when the moon shone too bright.

You nodded, and placed a little sack of gold upon his hands."Take it as a gift" you walked to the door, waving goodbye to an astonished Erwin. You met his eyes. "Till we meet again."

He waved back at you, placing the sack down as it wasn't important to him as much as you were. "Till we meet again" he rephrased.

When the click of the door was emitted, you stepped out and breathed in the fresh air of the cold night before placing your hood back on. Today, you embarked on the journey of when you escaped not only your arranged marriage but a home that was known as hell, a kingdom that feared its ruler.

Maybe one day, you'll reclaim this land as your own, and have Erwin rule it as their King.

You treaded along many dirt paths, deciding whether to take a trip to the right or to the left. It became increasingly difficult since you weren't provided with a map, courtesy of your father never allowing you to have your own education. He believed that women were only good in bed and in the kitchen- which angered you. Erwin attempted to get his hands on one, but you didn't want his life to be at risk, so you decided to go against having one at all, bringing you to where you were currently. Holding the straps of your backpack, you walked and walked, up until you came across an old and abandoned cottage. It was located fairly well, where the flow of a river was heard and the sun beaming upon its structure brought a sense of belonging.
