As I walked down the street, I broke down and cried. I never thought I would see the outside ever again. I wiped my eyes and kept going. As I passed a park, I hesitantly dropped the knife I was holding. Where I was headed, I would be safe from Declan for sure. 
                          
My main concern was for Ashlee though. I left her. I hoped and prayed as I exited the park that nothing too bad was happening to her. She was truly my best friend in the whole world and part of my family. I loved her. And if Declan hurts her while I'm gone, he won't ever get the chance to hurt anyone else. I swear it. 
                          
I could feel more tears coming but theses weren't tears of despair. These were tears of hope and determination. I couldn't let anything or anyone stop me from doing what I knew I had to do. I looked around at the buildings in front of me and knew I was there. 
                          
I entered the building and walked slowly to the front desk. The woman looked up at me in shock. I must seriously look a mess. I put my head down as she spoke to me.
                          
"Welcome to Shultz Enterprises. Can I help you honey?" The secretary said, her face showing sympathy. 
                          
"Yes. I'm looking for Roger Porter, please." She immediately stood up and came from around the desk. 
                          
"Follow me honey." She said walking towards an elevator. I had no choice so in the elevator I went. She pushed the 23rd floor. Once we were there, we walked to an office door. She led me over to some chairs.
                          
"Just take a seat right here honey. I'll inform Mr. Porter that he has a guest to see him," She said smiling before turning away from me. She went to the door and knocked. A voice from inside told her to 'come in.'
                          
I sat fidgeting as I waited. It seemed like a century had passed before the lady retuned. She had the same smile on her face.
                          
"Go on ahead honey. Good luck," She added as she walked back to the elevator.
                          
I stood up and opened the door and went inside the big office. 
                          
"Hello Michaelle. What a nice surprise. What brings you here? Your mother is looking for you, you know that?" He said in greeting.
                          
I nodded and sat down. 
                          
"Yeah I haven't spoke to her yet. I thought I should come here first," I said. I watched as he sat up in his chair and leaned towards me.
                          
"And why is that?"
                          
I took a deep breath and I recounted the past week's events to him from being abducted by Declan, beat by him, and abused. I was in tears by the time I was through. 
                          
"And it gets worse," I said wiping my face with the tissue he gave me.
                          
" How the hell could it possibly be worse?!" He asked with a humorless laugh. 
                          
"They have Ashlee too," I said in a whisper. 
                          
"What!?" His voice boomed. He stood up pacing the room clearly angry.
                          
"Yes," I said. "Declan's sister helped me escape but I feel so bad because I left her. We have to do something!" 
                          
He came over and embraced me in the most loving hug. For a moment, I felt safe.
                          
"You did the right thing by coming here. Do you the address of the place?" He asked me.
                          
"Yes. I can tell you exactly how to get there from here." I said to him.
                          
He raised up and helped out of the chair. He opened the door and we made our way inside the elevator. Soon we were in the lobby again.
                          
"Have a good day sir." The secretary said smiling broadly at him.
                          
"You too Cynthia," He replied wrapping his arm around my shoulder. We walked outside to his car and got in. 
                          
As we pulled off, he looked at me.
                          
"What do you say we go save your sister huh?"
                          
I smiled right back at him.
                          
"Yes Daddy."
