A/N- Disclaimer I have no idea what an American high school is like or how the education system works, so I'm completely making it up to be how I want it😅
Alexa's POV
"Well I thought that was pretty mild for your first day of high school, she'll have to step it up when you leave for college." Keen jokes as we begin our journey to school, I laugh and roll my eyes as Mom texts me saying 'I love you' again, which of course I return.
"I had to tell her she can't text me all day because I won't be on my phone in class, that didn't go down well!" I eventually reply as Keen laughs along with me.
"I've already picked up your schedule so we can sign you in and go straight to your first class and then I will meet you after, and take you to your next class." He explains casually, though I feel a bit bad that he's doing all this for me.
"Thankyou, you... you don't have to do that. I know our parents are friends but-" I try get my words out but they become a bit stuttery. I don't want him to feel like he has to do all these things, I know he probably has better things to do than escort a freshman he barely knows around all day and that's completely okay. I get it.
"Alexa my dad might have asked me to look out for you, but this is my choice. It's a pretty chilled school but starting at the end of the year not knowing anyone must be daunting. So I'm here, whatever you need." He reassures me in his very casual tone eyes focussed on the road ahead.
I remember Harry's mom once using the phrase 'If they were any more laid back they'd be upside down.' That is definitely how I'd describe Keen, nothing seems to phase him. I wish I could be more like that.
We fall into a comfortable silence for the rest of the drive. When we finally pull up at school, Keen finds a parking spot, I grab my bag and follow him into the building to the administration office.
"How can I help dear?" The lady at the desk asks giving me a warm smile, which I politely return "Um it's my first day" My voice comes out a little shy as she smiles again. "Okay what's your name?"
"Alexa, Alexa Olsen." I state, still not quite used to my new name but I love it nonetheless. "Ah yes, Keen I believe you picked up Alexa's schedule?" The older lady asks over my shoulder to where he is stood.
"Yes ma'am I have it here." He replies passing it over, she types on her computer for a while before smiling back at me.
"Okay dear, so your schedule is here, your locker number and combination, I just want to check your emergency contacts; we've got your Mom, Elizabeth. Grandpa, Dave. And... Scarlett? Is that right." She reads from her screen before looking back to me, I smile and nod in agreement. "Well that's everything dear, I hope you have a good day."
I thank her and follow Keen as he shows me where my first class is, thankfully it's biology which I actually don't mind. "Mr Ruffalo to what do I owe this pleasure?" The teacher asks as we walk in, we're a little early so not everyone is here yet, but I start to feel very nervous as I realise people are now looking at me.
"I'm just dropping off my friend, it's her first day. I'll see you after class Alexa." He says with a little wave before leaving so he's not late to his own lesson. "Ah Miss Olsen I presume, I'm Mr. Wilson welcome to biology." He points out an empty chair in the second row for me to sit down, I get my notepad and pen out ready and flick through the text book.
"Hey I'm Sarah" The girl next to me introduces herself looking back to the front of the room. "Alexa" I eventually reply, receiving a smile back. "Okay everyone today we're going to start by looking at photosynthesis..."
