a/n: Oh, this is a LONG one. I truly hope you love it! I took me over 7 hours to write the past two days. <3

"Are you sure it's all ready?" Maya whispered on the phone from the bathroom.
It was early on Saturday morning and Carina was still sound asleep in bed. The past two and a half weeks had been hell, but today wouldn't be. It would be the second best day of their life. The first being the day they brought Josie home.
It was their wedding day.
Maya ended her phone call with Vic and snuck back under the covers of their warm comforter. Josie had woken up a few times through the night and had finally settled back down a few hours ago, so like her mama, she was still peacefully asleep.
The fire captain closed her eyes and envisioned what the remainder of her day would be like. The two women had planned an informal wedding at the court-house, or so Carina thought.
Little did the Italian know, Maya had much more elaborate plans. She had been secretly planning a firehouse wedding since the fire. Vic, Andy, Travis, Warren, Dean, and even Charlotte pulled together after the tragedy to plan a simple, yet beautiful ceremony and reception at the station.
This morning, Maya called Vic to ensure that everything was going as planned. The captain had stopped by the station last night on her way home from the grocery store to see the set-up in the barn. The team had cleared out a portion of the area and hung fairy lights down from the ceiling. They built an arch and wrapped it in greenery, tulle, and white roses. On both sides of the aisle, they arranged a total of 20 chairs, just enough for a small gathering of their closest family and friends.
It wasn't much, but it was perfect for them.
Now, Maya had to get Carina there without being too suspicious.
"Mmm bambina," Carina mumbled out. She had started to slowly wake up and immediately grabbed for her lover next to her.
"Good morning, my love," Maya said sweetly. She rolled on her side and faced Carina. She reached her hands out and placed them on both sides of her fiance's cheeks and placed a soft kiss on her lips.
Carina smiled into the kiss and blinked open her tired eyes. Her grin grew larger when she realized what day it was. Excitedly, she said, "We get married today."
"We do," Maya whispered. She pulled Carina back in for another kiss, this time more passionate. Their tongues danced around one another's mouths as they envisioned their time at the altar together.
Carina wrapped her arms around Maya's body and pulled the small blonde on top of her. She looked up into her favorite blue orbs and said, "In just a few hours, you'll be my wife."
Tears welled in Maya's eyes as her fiance spoke. This moment felt like a long time coming, although they hadn't even been together an entire year. However, time didn't matter to either of them. To them, their love was more than months, it was all-consuming.
Maya smiled and said, "I can't wait to be Captain DeLuca."
"That does have a nice ring to it," Carina added. She reached up and brushed Maya's long blonde hair out of her face. "I will never get over how beautiful you are, bella."
The captain blushed at the remark. She held herself up with her strong arms and reciprocated the compliment, "I should be saying the same to you, my love. I definitely out-kicked my coverage with you."
Carina raised her eyebrow at the comment. She was getting better at understanding American idioms, but that one went right over her head.
Maya realized it and giggled, "I don't feel like explaining. Just know that I think you're really hot, like really hot."
