she was woken up with breakfast in bed that morning - justin trying so desperately to make up for something she'd told him plenty of times he didn't need to make up to her.
she was showered in love and affection, much like every morning, before he pulled her out of bed and encouraged her to get ready for the remainder of their drive
thankfully, the drive was nowhere near as long as the day before, and they were pulling up to an unknown house before she knew it.
"what is this?" kassidy peered out the window, taking in the unknown neighborhood, "where are we?"
justin smirked, "i have a surprise for you," he unbuckled his seatbelt, leaning over the center console to place a kiss on her forehead before opening his door and hurrying out of the car, calling out a quick "wait here!" as he did so.
she did so reluctantly, feeling a pit of anxiety form in her stomach - it wasn't like she didn't trust him, of course she did, but the unknown neighborhood and the lack of information he'd given her over the past two days had her on the edge of her seat.
she took in the unfamiliar place as she waited - impatiently - in the car, the clock ticking by way too slow for her liking. it felt like forever before jc was gently tapping on her window, motioning for her to exit the car.
he held the door open for her as she did so, "i'm gonna need you to close your eyes for me baby, okay?" he shut the door behind her, smiling at her expectantly
"i don't like this.."
"believe me, babe" his hand softly brushed her face, closing her eyes, "you're gonna love it."
she felt his hand grasp hers, tugging her gently in the direction her surprise was. they stopped abruptly and it was only a second before she heard the small barks and felt the pawing at her legs.
"you can open them now," he told her excitedly, the smile on his face wide.
she opened them slowly, peering down at her feet. to her disbelief she was met with the cutest puppy she'd ever seen and dropped to her knees immediately, reaching out to pet the fur ball. "oh my gosh!" she gushed, "whose dog is this?"
"she's ours."
her face dropped in disbelief and she looked up at her boyfriend in shock, "no you fucking didn't"
"yes i fucking did"
her heart swelled in her chest at the certainty in his voice and she couldn't help but to let a few tears fill her eyes, "are you fucking kidding me? why would you do this?"
"you told me you wanted a dog for valentine's day and well, happy valentine's day"
she let out a laugh, slowly getting to her feet and walking straight into her boyfriend's arms. she kissed him repeatedly, completely ignoring the crowd of the family that had gathered around them. "thank you" she whispered, just loud enough for the two of them to hear, "i absolutely can not thank you enough. she's absolutely perfect. i love her. i love you"
he smiled softly, looking down at her with nothing but pure admiration in his eyes, "i love you, kassidy besson. forever and always."

kassidy besson never did have a good track record when it came to guys, but she liked to think she made up for that when she chose justin castillo.

♡ ♡ hello from the grave after not being active for the last few months 🤍 i started college a few months ago and finding the time to update between that and having a full time job has not been the easiest. i'm sorry to cut this story short and for the short update, but this sadly is the end of love language ... book 1! surprise! i have so many more ideas for jc and kassidy and am excited to announce that their story isn't over yet :) i hope you guys are just as excited as i am. more information on the sequel to come, but just know it IS in the works. until then, feel free to check out some of my other stories! thank you for all the love you have shown kassidy as a character and me as a writer, it means the world. i love you! see you soon.
