stefan looked at rebekah who still hadn't woken up and he was angry.
"did you even try to stop her?" stefan asked damon.
"you forgot the part where i was bobbing for boxes in vervain water." damon said.
katherine had shoved damon's head in a fish tank that was full of vervain.
"all you had to do was stall her, damon." stefan said.
"sorry. its rebekah. i didn't have a pony to distract her, stefan." damon replied.
"you let her take it, didn't you? you were never on my side. now elena will be a vampire for the rest of her life just like you wanted." stefan said.
rebekah let out a gasp making the three of them look at her.
stefan sat in front of rebekah was she was fully awake and she was smiling.
"how do you feel?" stefan asked her.
"i...i feel good. i... i feel great. i feel alive." rebekah replied.
"slight problem with being alive... i can kill you now." damon said throwing a letter opener at her but she quickly caught it in mid air.
"i've never seen a human do that." may said.
rebekah looked at the cut on her hand from catching it and it quickly healed.
"or that." may added.
"i'm still a vampire. the cure didn't work." rebekah said.
"it worked just like she wanted it to. the cure was a fake. it must have been a concentrated shot of vervain or something." stefan said.
"katherine." damon said.

before leaving new york, may was walking around the city since stefan wanted to talk to damon alone.
she heard something behind her but when she turned back no one was there. she looked back in front of her and she saw a familiar face.
"mabel." he said locking eyes with her.
"elijah, i heard about you and katherine." may said.
"she lied to me. i suppose everyone is right about her." elijah said as may let out a sigh.
"i'm not sure what you see in her." may said.
"the same thing i saw in you. a girl who is simply trying to survive but in different ways." elijah said.
"how do you mean?" may asked him.
"katherine told me you wanted to take the cure, mabel. at first i couldn't understand why but then it made perfect sense." elijah said.
"and why is that?" may asked.
"because as a human you suffered great losses like elena... but when you became a vampire you lost something else, your heritage. your mother, she was a witch who was burned alive during the witch trials." elijah said.
"i never told you that." may said.
"after i first met you, i heard your last name wilkins... i swore that i had heard it before and then i remembered i knew a witch once by the name of marjorie wilkins." elijah said.
"my mother. elijah i-" may began but elijah cut her off when he kissed her.
the two of them pulled away and may was shocked by what had just happened.
"take care of yourself, mabel." elijah said as may nodded.
and with that, elijah walked away leaving may standing there with a surprised expression.

caroline put may as a chaperone for the senior prom. she was going to make sure elena didn't kill anyone and in case silas wanted to make an appearance.
may was waiting for caroline to show up and she saw elena was wearing the dress caroline had showed her.
may texted her to see if she was still coming and she replied back saying she just needed to get a new dress and she'd be on her way.
may looked out and saw elena and stefan slow dancing but it didn't last long until elena walked away.
being at the prom, watching everyone dance reminded her of the dance she went to with ren.
"may i have this dance, beautiful?" ren asked as he held out his hand.
"you may, kind gentlemen." mabel replied as she smiled and took his hand.
he lead her out onto the dance floor and she couldn't believe how good of a dancer he was for an orphan boy.
when caroline finally arrived, she went to talk to may, snapping her out of her thoughts.
"elena stole your dress, didn't she?" may asked her.
"yes, but thankfully klaus had this one." caroline said as may looked at her beautiful champagne colored dress.
"he may be a psychopath, but he does have good taste." may admitted.
later in the night, bonnie told the gang that silas had spoken to her but he was appearing as jeremy.
"it's like jeremy was there. i could talk to him, feel him." bonnie said.
"bonnie, that's what silas does. you can't let him get to you again." stefan said.
"yeah, because you all crazy and brainwashed. it's not a good look." damon said.
"how nice of you, damon." may said as she rolled her eyes.
just as they were talking, they heard april up on the stage.
"hey. ok, the ballots have been tallied, which means it's time to announce this year's prom king and queen." april said.
"look, one of us should take her home." stefan said referring to bonnie.
"what? no. she's safer here in public around all these people. there's no way silas can make everyone see the same thing all at once." damon said.
"okay, in the meantime, how do we look out for a guy that can appear as anyone?" matt said.
"that's the million dollar question." may replied.
"all right. your prom king and queen are... matt donovan and bonnie bennett." april announced as the spotlight hit the two of them.
they went up on stage in front of everyone. may looked at the two brothers before speaking.
"well, she's pretty safe now." may said.
when may got back home, stefan told her about how elena tried to kill bonnie and bonnie tried killing elena since her magic was out of control.
stefan vervained elena and they were going to lock her into the basement of the salvatore boarding house.
