Briars POV
I've been thinking. Why would Ace lie to Abby? I saw her eyes glow. I'm not crazy. "Hey Abby?" I asked. "Huh?" She said. "Are you sure that Ace is human?" I asked. "Yes?" She said, confused. "I saw her eyes glow" I said. "It was probably just a reflection from the light" she said. I stared at her for a minute. "Ok" I said. I walked back to my room. Its not Ace that lied, its Abby. She knows what Ace is but is refusing to tell me. I wish I had Ace's number so I could ask her but I don't. I'm gonna have to run around campus like an idiot trying to find her. Lucky for me, I'm ok with that.I'm walking around campus. "Briar!" I heard. I turned to see Cash. "Hey" I smiled. "Hey, what are you doing?" She asked. "Looking for someone" I said. "Is it me?" She asked. I smiled. "No, I'm looking for a friend" I said. "Can I walk with you?" She asked. "Sure" I said. We walked all around campus. One of the classes just released and Ace walked out of it. I ran up to her. "Ace!" I said. "Oh hey Briar" she smiled. "I wanted to ask you about your species" I said. "Oh, I'm human" she said. Ok maybe she is lying. I can see it clearly now. Her eyes are glowing. "But your eyes are glowing" I said. She visibly panicked. "Ill call you later" she ran off. "You don't have my number!" I yelled. I turned around to see Cash. She has her arms crossed and her eyebrow raised. "What?" I asked. "Why does she need your number?" She asked. I groaned. "I'm not cheating on you. Calm down" I said. "Its just kinda suspicious" she said. "Will you chill? I'm all yours Cash. She's just a friend" I said. She sighed. I took her hand in mine. "Come on. You can come back to my dorm with me" I said. "Ok" she followed.
We walked in. Abby looked over from the couch. Her eyes widened and Cash laughed. "Hey Abby" Cash smirked. I elbowed her in the stomach. "Ow! What was that for?" She asked, in pain. "Abby gets priority over you so don't upset her" I snapped. "Noted" Cash said. I walked over to Abby. "I'm sorry" I whispered. "Its fine" she said. Cash and I went to my room. "Your room is way bigger than mine" she said. "That's cause you have a smaller dorm" I said. "Yeah. I don't know how you can live with three roommates. I can barely handle the two I have" she said. I laughed. "They're not that bad" I said.
We're watching TV. My head is on her shoulder. "Can you tell me more about you?" She asked. I looked up at her. "Like what?" I asked. "I don't know. What's something that you wouldn't want anyone else to know?" she asked. I took a deep breath. "Oh um. When I was little, my mom let my siblings and I go in the pool by ourselves and I hid behind a bush in the backyard and made my siblings think I drowned" I recalled. She laughed. "What did your mom say?" She asked. "She laughed but Mom wasnt very happy" I said. She looked at me confused. "I have two moms" I said. "Oh ok" she said. "I've never told anyone that story before" I said. She smiled. "Have you talked to your parents?" She asked. "No. I haven't talked to them since I left for the airport" I said. "You should call them. I'm sure they'd like to hear from you" she said. "Do you call your parents?" I asked. "No. My dad has my number blocked on his phone and my moms" she said. "Why?" I asked. "Not all families are as supportive as yours" she said. "Oh, I'm sorry" I said. "Its ok. I've never told anyone about my parents before" she said. I smiled. I started at her for a moment and she looked over. I knew I was gonna regret it, but I just leaned in and kissed her. It was electric. I loved it. We pulled back and stared at each other. "I should go. I'm gonna be late for class" she smiled. "Right" I backed up. "Ill see you later" she said. I nodded and she left. I exhaled as the door closed. That was the best thing I've ever experienced. My phone buzzed. It was a number I didn't recognize. I have a feeling I know who it is. I answered.
"Hello?" I asked. "Hi Briar" Ace said. "Ace how did you get my number?" I asked. "Abby gave it to me" she said. "Of course she did. Why did you run away earlier?" I asked. "Because I didn't want to tell you in public" she said. "Why? What are you?" I asked. "I need you to come to my dorm" she said. "Ok?" I said, confused. She hung up. I got up and drove to her dorm.
I knocked. She answered and pulled me inside. We went to her room. "Why are you acting so weird about it?" I asked. "Because my species isn't very normal" she said. "What are you a demon?" I asked sarcastically. She stared at me. "Wait seriously?" I asked. She shook her head. "Just the opposite" she said. Her silver eyes started glowing and she levitated from the floor. Two white feathered wings sprouted from her back. She landed on the ground and her eyes stopped glowing. "You're an angel" I said in awe. She nodded. "Why did you tell me?" I asked. She smiled. "Because you have god in you" she said. "What?" I asked. "Your family. I can see it in your eyes. You are the descendant of a God" she said. My mom told me about that but it never made sense to me. "I've met demons and gods. They're my cousins but I never realized that made me part of a god family" I said. She giggled. "Yes it does. Just because you don't have the name doesn't mean that you aren't a Fate" she said. That name rung several bells in my head. "I'm not a Fate" I said. "You're not one of the three Fates but you certainly are a Fate. Your great grandparents made sure of that. Astro, Layla, and Emma" she said. "How do you know all this?" I asked, stunned. "The Fates story has been widely spread across heaven and hell. We all know about it" she said. "So are you from heaven?" I asked. "I was born there yes, but I only lived there until I was three" she said. "So when you die do you just go back home?" I asked. She laughed. "Technically yes, but Ill be a soul then. Not an angel" she said. "Why do you hide it?" I asked. "I'm not really confident about it" she said. "Why?" I asked. "You ask a lot of questions" she said. "Sorry" I said. "Again with the apologies" she smiled. I rolled my eyes. "Thank you for telling me. I wont tell anyone. I promise" I said. "Thank you" she said. I nodded and left.
I'm back home. I'm playing with the ring on my finger. Abby looked over. "Is that one of Cash's rings?" She asked. I nodded. "She never gives out her rings" Abby said, shocked. I looked down at the ring. "She must really like you" Abby said. Maybe I can change Cash. She can be a good person if she tries. I'm sure I can help her change.
