      ALEX' POV:

Next week was the first day I go to my new school. I've moved from Philadelphia, Pa from Hackensack, New Jersey. I wasn't too happy moving considering I lost all my friends and was moving with my dad and that bitch Jesse, his girlfriend.

I walk into my new room looking around. I sent up my bags onto the bed and start unpacking them putting it into the dresser. I hand up my flags and poster feeling happy with the results.

I go to explore the house. Looking out the window is a beautiful view of this suburb. Orange, yellow, red, and brown leaves fill the dead trees. Rows of houses fill the streets up. I see a black cat walk along the side of the street prancing along.

As I walk out of my room I see a long hallway with a few doors along it. I walk to the end finally getting to a old looking door. I grab onto the handle and slowly turn it. It's locked. Ugh. I walk away, but as I do I hear a quiet thud. I spot in my tracks looking back... I'm hearing things, don't worry. I say to myself. I walk down the steps seeing my dad and Jesse setting up the living room.

"Hey." I say. "Hi, Alex. Did you get your room set up yet." My dad asked.

"Ya, I have." I say. "I'm going for a walk. Just to explore the neighborhood you know?"

"Okay, but be back in 30 minutes." He says. "Okay."

I go back up to my room to get changed. I look for my flannel, crop top, tan pants, and my belt (look down for reference) I grab my clothes and change in the bathroom.

I walk out the door and into the the pavement

I walk out the door and into the the pavement. I walk down the road a bit to see what looks like a yard sale. There would a lot of people around so I didn't bother to go up and look.

But what caught my eye was a boy with curly hair that looked about my age.. maybe he's going to be in my class? I think to myself.. I kind of stayed there for awhile analyzing him. Until I turned back around to see me staring. Uhhhh.....

JAKES POV:

I walk into the yard sale looking for a doll of some sort for my sculpture. I look around until my eyes fixate onto a doll with overalls on. I quickly pick it up.

"Hey Jake!" The lady says.

"Hey" I say back.

"$20 for him." She says.

We end up having a small conversation about retro and vintage. After that I gave her the money and turned around. I saw a person who seemed to be around my age standing there. With a skateboard in their hand. I saw them quickly turn around and walk the other way. Hm.. odd. I think to myself.

ALEX' POV:

I quickly turn the other way embarrassed I was staring at him for so long. I hop into my skateboard and go back to my house wandering along random street since I had about 10 minutes left before I had to head home.

I walk into my house to see my dad and Jesse sitting on the couch. It's dusk so they're probably done for the day.

"Ahh, just in time Alex. We are about to start a movie!" My dad says. I smile and hop onto the coach.

"So, Alex aren't you excited to go to your new school?" Jesse says in a cocky tone. "Umm, not really. I don't like meeting new people yk." I say quietly.

"Ugh, why are you so socially reserved. Like go to parties, make new friends. STOP BEING SO SHY." She yells. "You're so weird. No wonder your mom left you."

I didn't say anything. I kind of just sat there. Used to being yelled at by her. My dad didn't do anything about it either because he loved her. God I hate my family sometimes. I decided not to watch the movie. I go upstairs while my dad tried to beg me to come down. But I didn't. I walk into my room. Almost. Until I hear another thud again. What the... I turn around to see that door cracked open a tiny bit. I walk over to it slowly. I slowly open the door more to see what's inside. It's the attic.

I step onto the first step. Creeeekkkkkk. The steps made this high pitched creeking sound. I cringe at the sound. I finally made my way up the steps. I look around me to see a bunch of old boxes and toys laying around. I was wondering where the thuds kept coming from. I squint my eyes when they land on a clean black box. I walk over to it and open it. It's a doll. A beautiful doll. She had blonde hair,  thin eyebrows, green eyes, and black lipstick on. On the top of the box it says "Tiffany Valentine.. DO NOT OPEN!!" Oops. Welp, I already did. I carefully pick her up and bring her down to my room. I set her onto my shelf with my other dolls. She stood out from the rest.

About an hour later. I was still doing some more work on the history behind Hackensack. Papers spread along my bed with my laptop open. Apparently this town has a high murder rate. Well that's interesting. I thought.

I close my laptop, put my papers away and get changed into sweats and a t shirt. After a long day of unpacking and exploring this interesting neighborhood I think it's time to get some rest. It was Thursday so I'm 4 days school starts. I'm not too excited like I said before. I grab my blanket and closed my eyes.
