Levi has never liked being touched. The filth that would accumulate upon one's hand, used progressively more before having it touch your face, on places that were filthy, he despised it. The idea tortured and disgusted him beyond belief, but that warm feeling of your soft hand within his seemed to break that feeling. Only was he with you was that feeling diminished. It was unlike him, but he'll never regret ever holding such a wonderful person.
You held Levi's calloused hand, intertwining each of your fingers within his as you both walked along the soiled grounds of the carnival. Lights flicked upon your faces, red, blue, yellow, colors of varying hues and tones flashed, displaying their booths and their prizes. Booths filled with games, from tossing games to water gun games galore lined the sides of the area. Streams of banners with little triangles of blue, red, and yellow filled the bottom half of the strings. It was a beautiful night, and one you loved because you spent it with someone special.
And, to you, Levi was a very special person.
He was, how many put it, an outcast. His defying nature to intimidate, scoff, and act indifferent towards others made many gravitate away from him. He was isolated, alone in the classroom, and anytime the teacher gave the students the order to rearrange their seats so everyone got a chance to converse with each other, many steered away from Levi. Often, there would be a whole area where, wherever Levi was, the seats were empty. He didn't mind it all that much, but you knew that the look he'd give any time you were able to glance at his expression...said that he was lonely.
So, the next time your class was ordered to rearrange your seats, and you noticed that once again, there were empty seats all around Levi, instead of taking the seat in front of him, or behind, you chose to sit right next to him. His eyes had a sort of, shimmer within them when he realized that someone sat beside him, and his skin tingled slightly when he realized it was you. You gave him a soft smile before reaching into your backpack ti take out your textbook.
"Hope we become friends Levi" you whispered, eyes focused on the endless jumbles of words.
He felt frozen, but his heart fluttered. His lips tugged upwards slightly at the thought that you wanted to be friends with him, despite the reputation he had upheld. He never gave you a reply, but the comfortable silence you both were in led you to hope that one day, you could possibly be the friend that will always be there for him.
Words couldn't describe how you felt when Levi had asked if you'd like to go to the upcoming carnival with him. His nervous invitation, along with a small little rose made your heart flutter as if the sunset and sunrise had met each other to share a tender kiss; mixing their beautiful colors together. Nodding enthusiastically, you took the rose and after school ended, you returned home to prepare your little 'date' with him. Not a date really, but you considered it to be one, a harmless date between two friends.
"Hey" a voice spoke, making you turn your head towards him. Levi pointed towards a booth that had a sign saying that it was the most difficult to win, but to those who succeeded would win one of the many plushies from the stacks that lined the ceilings and on the sides of the booth. The plushies were relatively large, thus, Levi's eyes lingered upon a plush of your favorite character from a show. "I remembered you mentioning how much you love that guy character in your favorite show," Levi said. He pointed towards the plush, and with a small bit of hesitance, "I could win it for you."
Your eyes rested themselves upon his face. His eyebrows were slightly furrowed, almost in concentration, and he seemed to be sweating. You smiled, appreciating the thoughtful gesture Levi was offering. Squeezing his hand, he looked at you. "Thank you, I would love that," you say, lightly grazing the pad of your thumb over his hand.
