Chapter 43: I will bring you back

Start from the beginning

I look around to see where I am. Who are these people? I look at the woman in front of me and I am shocked by what I see. "Daenerys?" I ask in confusion. "Yes! That is me, do you remember?" She asks in a hopeful tone. I smile brightly and pull her in a hug. I don't believe it! I thought I lost her. "I thought I lost you forever!" I say while some tears are forming in my eyes. I pull her away so I can look her over. "How did you get away from the Dornish? I thought you married one of those damnable Martels?" I ask her. "Dornish? What are you talking about?" She says. I am confused. "I started this war for you, love!" I say. One of the knights walks towards me. He looks like a Northerner. They always look less well-kept than Southern men. I pull Daenerys protectively behind me. "Who are you?" I ask him.

"Easy, I am Ser Jorah. How should I address you?" He asks carefully. "Daemon Blackfyre, rightful heir to the Seven Kingdoms. You better remember, knight, who you are fighting for," I say in a commanding voice. "Now leave us, I want to speak to Daenerys in private," I say to them. "Love..." I hear Daenerys say and I turn to her. "Remember who you are, love. Remember," she says in a soothing voice desperately reaching out to something. I clutch my head again as a heavy headache comes.

"Dany...?" I groan. "Yes! Visenya can you hear me?" She says but her voice is getting softer and softer. "Help... me..." I mutter weakly. The whole room is spinning and black spots are appearing everywhere. "Visenya! Stay with me!" I hear a distant voice yell at me. Not soon after I feel myself falling as everything goes to black.

~ Daenerys Targaryen ~

I informed Grey Worm that we won't march today. During the whole day, I stayed at the side of Visenya. I never left her alone. I refused to leave her and told everyone to leave me alone. I did ask the healers to inspect Visenya. It worries me that she had not woken up since she passed out in the morning. She groans and moans restlessly, on some occasions she says incoherent things about the past. Sometimes it is about Rhaella, Rhaegar, or some other ancestor. I am worried I will lose the person that I have grown to love and respect.

The healers that came are clueless as to what is happening. They conclude that she must be under a huge amount of stress and pressure from these "episodes". It would explain the headaches, but how is she turning into another person completely? I pace in my tent racking my brain to find a solution to get Visenya back. I can't lose her, I won't.

I sigh in defeat. I sit down next to Visenya who is moaning and groaning in pain. "Visenya... what should I do? I don't know how to help you," I say as my voice begins to crack. I feel the tears leaving my eyes. "Please, Visenya, don't leave me," I say through my sobbing. I look at Visenya's face and what I see breaks my heart. It is full of pain and her skin is glistening in sweat. Her expression is turning expressionless as if she is losing her identity completely.

I wipe away my tears and try to stand up to get a wet cloth to wipe away the sweat. I was stopped by Visenya's hand that suddenly grabs my arm. I quickly turn to Visenya hoping to see her opening her eyes, but I don't. I frown. What is she trying to say? I take her hand in my own and close my eyes to concentrate. In the past, I could connect to these dreams and make them appear before my eyes. Perhaps I can make them go away?

I intently concentrate on Visenya. The feeling of warmth that is constantly present in Slavers Bay is slowly being replaced by coldness. I open my eyes to see what is happening. As I open my eyes I am shocked by what I see. I am standing in a grey void filled with a thick mist. Is this Visenya's mind? Gods...

I look around hoping to see something but the mist is thick and is only getting thicker. As I scan my surroundings, I spot a person moving around in the distance. The person looks lost and struggles to walk. I quickly run towards the person hoping to catch up. When I caught up to the disoriented person my heart breaks. It is Visenya. She looks at me and I begin to cry. Her eyes that usually hold curiosity and kindness to all things are now empty. Her usual bright expression that can light up a room is gone and now only shows emptiness and sadness.

She stops looking at me and starts walking again as if she does not see me anymore. "Visenya?" I say hoping she will hear me. She stops walking and turns to me. She stares blankly at me waiting for something. I reach out for her hand. She does not move or make any kind of effort to stop my action. She just stares blankly at me.

As I take her hand in mine everything changes around me. The mist is suddenly becoming a battlefield where people are fiercely fighting against each other. I look around wide-eyed. What is this? People are dying around me, blood is covering the ground. From behind me, I hear a horse. I turn around to see a huge man on a horse coming towards me with a huge hammer. I scream in terror as he comes towards me. The man readies his weapon to strike me down. I instinctively hold my arms up to defend myself, but everything goes away as I let go of Visenya's hand.

The thick mist is surrounding us again. "This is what you experience every night?" I say to Visenya between heavy breaths. She does not respond, her blank face just stares at me. What do I do now? I look around to see if I can spot anything else, but it is just mist. I look back at Visenya, who is about to wander off again. "Visenya, look at me." I try to sound as commanding as possible. Hoping it will get through to her. She stops and turns to look at me. Her blank face staring at me again. "Remember who you are Visenya. Come back to me," I say. She does not respond and continues to stare at me. "You promised to come back to me if I say your name. I command you to come back to me," I try to be as authoritative as I can. It is hard though with her staring blankly at me.

Visenya begins to frown. "Promise?" I hear her say in a monotone voice lacking any kind of emotion. "Yes, you promised me that you would advise me and help me stay sane." She looks at me with confusion. "I promised? Who am I?" She asks. "You are Visenya Blackfyre. My dearest friend, my most trusted confidant, and... my future wife." She seems even more confused. "Visenya? I will marry you? Who are you?" I won't lie. Those words hurt deeply. "Daenerys Targaryen. Now come back to me Visenya," I say in a demanding voice.

I see some life coming back to her face. "I... will?" She questions herself. "Yes, now stop second-guessing yourself and come back to me," I say while keeping my voice strong. Visenya looks around in a pained expression. "Argh!" she screams while clutching her head. I look around hoping to see a change. I smile when I notice the mist is slowly fading.

She looks at me again. "Dany...?" She mutters through her pain. "I am here," I reassure her. "Argh! It hurts Daenerys. It hurts so much," she says. "I know, but we need you. I need you," I say with a soothing voice. She continues to groan in pain. "I... need to... get back. She... needs... me," she mutters through grinding teeth. "Come back to me Visenya," I keep saying hoping it will help.

She falls to her knees clutching her head screaming in pain. I kneel next to her and put my hands on both of her shoulders. Concentrating and sharing my strength to help her. She keeps screaming in pain and I do my best to help her. It feels like hours till she stops screaming, but when she does I couldn't be happier.

"Daenerys? What is happening?" I hear her say in her normal voice. Oh, how I missed it. Her eyes are full of life again. She looks confused and looks around. The mist is completely gone and replaced by a bright spectrum of colors. "Let's get back, Visenya. It is high time," I say and hold my hand out for her to take. She nods in confusion and takes my hand. The whole scene disappears as Visenya is standing up.

I open my eyes to see myself in the same position before I went to get my Visenya back. I look to Visenya hoping to see her back alive and well. Only to find her sleeping, but unlike before it is peaceful. I let out a huge sigh of relief. "Welcome back love," I say to her and kiss her on the forehead. I see a smile forming on her face as she continues to sleep.
