     Whispers permeated the room. They floated across tables, crawled into the ears of nearby classmates, and floated back out in a quiet puff of air.
There's an outsider in their midst.
"He's dangerous . . ." the whispers say . . .
"He can't be trusted . . . "
"It's only a matter of time before he turns on us . . ."
Sharp glances flick in the intruder's direction
Judging
Hating
"Nerves of steel . . ."
"1-A kids are something else . . ."
Pressure builds. Nerves stand on edge. It's like a ticking time bomb about to blow; anything could set it off.
A flash of silver
Intertwined with a startled cry
A metallic ring
An object revealed
The calm before the storm.





A shrill scream penetrated the air.
"HE'S GOT A KNIFE!!!" It echoed.
The countdown hits zero.
Chaos.
Complete. Chaos.
Shrieks ring throughout the cafeteria.
Students run rampant.
The hero courses were prepared to defend. 
And Dabi . . . he wasn't there . . .
Not there? How can that be? He's sitting over at that table.
His body may be, but his mind isn't.
Where is it then?
I don't know.
Will it come back?
Eventually.
How long will that take?
Depends.
On what?
Whether or not they can reach him . . .

"Dabi!" Midoriya's panicking. Everything's a mess right now. His hand clenches Dabi's shoulder. "Can you hear me? Are you okay?" Waving a hand in front of Dabi's face, he mentally facepalms. Quit being an idiot Izuku! Someone just tried to kill him!
No response.
"Guys! He's not responding!"
"What do we do?" Uraraka asks, scared. She looks around for a teacher. "We need Aizawa!" Her chocolate-colored eyes pleadingly meet Iida's blue ones.
He barely tilts his head in acknowledgment before taking off at a full sprint. Faster. He needs to move faster. Just a bit further . . . 
Iida slams open the door.
Aizawa takes in Iida's breathless state, his hand immediately going to his capture scarf.
"What happened?!"
"D- Dabi is," Iida pants out, "i- in trouble."
Aizawa's eyes widen for a fraction of a second.
