~AUTHOR'S NOTE~
Hey! Thank you for reading my story!

Quick disclaimer, I didn't go to college yet, I'm still in high school, so this is just what I think college is like and what I saw in movies, so yeah.

~Espresso POV~

The bus finally stops. I tip my driver on my way out. I walk from the bus stop and to my college. My home from now.

I look down at the card I've gotten before in the mail. It said all my classes and my dorm number.

Tomorrow is the official first day of school with all the classes. Today, you just have to settle into your dorm and unpack.

I go up to Room 102 and use the key to the room. It's a pretty nice room. It has two bed with a nightstool separating them, a sofa and a small TV, two desks, and two small drawers. There was also a small kitchen area and a bathroom.

I look around for any bags that might belong to my roommate. Looks like I'm the first one here.

I put my bags on the bed closest to the window, the one closest to the wall.

I put my clothes in the drawer nice and neat and claim the desk closest to my bed by putting decor and my laptop on it. I step back to look at the room. It looks pretty plain now, especially since my roommate hasn't come in yet, but I bet after some renovations, it can look pretty homey.

I take off my shoes and lay on my bed. I take out my phone and instantly see 50 notifications from Latte.

Whoops, I usually leave my phone on silent, so it was no wonder that I missed them.

I went on Messages to text her back.

E: hey, sorry I missed ur messages.

L: u better haha

E: u find ur room yet?

L: yeah, my roommate's nice, u?

E: The rooms nice, but my roommate isn't here yet

L: that sucks

E: not really, I don't like the idea of a roommate anyway

L: he's gonna come eventually lol

E: yeah, but better enjoy the moment when he's not

L: wow, you haven't met and your already making him sound terrible lol

E: whatever

I was about text her about what happend on the bus when suddenly, loud knocking came from the door.

E: I gtg someone's knocking on the door

I get up and open it. There, I see a guy holding the strap of a bag in his mouth, 3 other bags in his hands, about to fall out, and a suite with wheels attached to his pants.

"Aha! Thank you! I have my own key, but I couldn't get in out of my pocket!" He says, the bag in his mouth nearly falling out. He steps inside while I just open the door staring blankly.

He dumps all his bags on the second bed and takes a long stretch as I close the door.

He had sun-tanned skin and was wearing a white shirt with a light yellow sweater vest.

And sure enough, he had a long blonde ponytail.

He looks back at me, noticing my confused face.

"Oh! I have the key to prove I'm your roommate! So, do not worry!"

"You're my roommate?" I ask fearfully.

"That I am!" He responds, "Unless this isn't Room 102?"

     "N-no, it is."

     "Ah! That's wonderful!"

No way. There's no way that this guy is my roommate. I can already see what kind of person he is. A popular extrovert. He'll probably throw parties every night, or start rumors of me if I get on his bad side!

I sit back down on my bed, pretending to be absorbed by my phone. From the corner of my eye, I see him.

He was unpacking his stuff from his numerous bags, it didn't take him long to finish.

He sits of the edge of his bed and darts his eyes across the room in akward silence.

Oh no. I know what's coming. Small talk. I already know he's the kind of guy who likes to break the ice with new people.

"So... ahem, since we're going to be living together," He says, scratching his neck nervously, "Why not introduce ourselves?"

I knew it. He wants to be friends. He is sort of right sbout introducing ourselves though.

I sigh and put down my phone. His face lit up to see that I agreed.

"Alright!" He says, "I'm Madeleine! You?"

I stare at him a bit before answering.

     "Espresso."

"Espresso! That's a nice name!" He replies happily.

God, how does he have so much energy?

"It's nice to have so much greenery around the school, don't you think?" Madeleine says admiringly, "I heard that there was nice village with a good gelato place that everyone goes to..."

Sigh, does he ever stop talking? I pull out my found and start texting Latte, hopefully Madeleine reads the situation and realizes that I really don't care of making small talk.

"...But I heard that if you go really deep into the forest you might-" He notices my lack of interest and his voice softens, "Well- ahem, I guess I should bother you, heh..."

Finally. Peace and quiet. I did feel kinda bad for making him feel embarrassed, but I just brushed off those feelings of compassion and looked back at my phone.

L: u back??

E: yeah, it was my roommate

L: ooo is he nice??

E: a little TOO nice

L: oh come on he prob just want to be friends

E: i didnt come here to make friends

L: isnt that kinda part of the whole 'college experience'

E: not for me

L: wow ur no fun

L: hes prob a nice guy just give him a chance

'Give him a chance'? Yeah, right.
