Chapter 28

                                    

                                          
The next day Victor was driving me to school.
"Where exactly are you going?" I asked Victor.
"To a friend of mine, he needs help with his car." Victor replied.
"I didn't know you had a friend here." I said.
"Singular. One friend.
 And he doesn't live in this town, it's  a little off." Victor said." Victor replied.
"Okay…" I said.
"I'll get you when you are finished." Victor said.
"I hope so." I said.
Victor dropped me at the school and left. I met Billy and Finn at the school hallways. We were just talking, that's when Betty came to me.
"Liz!" Betty said.
"Betty…" I said.
"How are you, beautiful?" Betty asked me.
"I'm doing fine. And you?" I asked.
"I can't complain. 
 So… I can't see Victor anywhere…" Betty said.
"He's busy today." I replied.
"Oh, that sucks.
 You two really are a match. And he's so good looking. I wish I had a boyfriend like him." Betty said.
"My boyfriend?
 Victor isn't my boyfriend." I replied.
"He's not?" Betty asked.
"Nope.
 We're just childhood friends." I answered.
"Oh… but maybe you should think about it. You two would look good together." Betty said.
"Betty. Baby, if you were a fruit, you'd find a fineapple." Finn said but Betty ignored him.
"Anyway, I hope we can talk again. I love talking to you." Betty said.
"Yeah." I replied.
"Have a nice day, Liz!" Betty said.
"You too, Betty." I replied.
Then Betty left.
"She just completely ignored him. It was like he didn't exist. Not a single eye contact." Billy said.
After that I was excited. I would finally sit next to Ian again. As soon as I went inside the class I saw Ian was already sitting with another girl and they were even talking. I didn't understand. It didn't make sense to me. Why would he suddenly hang out with other girls!? 
I mean yeah, he did spend time with me as well but… I thought I was Special. Isn't that what guys like this make you always think? And then they replace you with someone else. Because they're sick of you… He was also talking with her after class. And he said that… he missed me. I'm so stupid. The three mean girls were also watching Ian and the other girl talking but they did nothing to her, guess they were only jealous of me.
I went outside and sat some place alone. That's when Maeve came to me.
"What's up, sad sack?
 I've looked everywhere for you." Maeve said to me.
I was damn sad and lost in my sad thoughts. So I kept silent.
"Earth to Liz!" Maeve said loudly.
"What??" I said.
"Liz, what's wrong?" Maeve sat near me and asked me.
"Everything." I replied.
"Tell me about it." Maeve said.
"Yesterday…
 Victor confessed his feelings to me." I replied.
"Oh…
 And you…?" Maeve asked.
I explained everything yesterday about how I rejected Victor.
"Wow…" Maeve said.
"Yeah…" I said.
"This is why you're so sad?" Maeve asked me.
"To be honest no.
 I think I just realized something…" I said.
"And that is?" Maeve said.
"I'm in love." I replied.
"With Victor?" Maeve asked.
"No. 
With Ian. But this is bad Maeve. Because he's not in love with me. And he will never fall in love with me." I answered.
"You don't know that." Maeve said.
"Yes I do.
 And you do too. You've warned me on my first day here. Fuck, I should've have listened." I said.
"Liz, Ian has never been the way with anyone else like he's with you. I might have been wrong." Maeve said.
"No, you weren't. Trust me. Shit. I didn't know it would hurt so bad." I replied.
"I'm sorry, Liz," Maeve said.
                          
After school was over I was waiting for Victor, he said he would pick me. But I couldn't find him.
"Where's he?
 Victor told me he would get me in time… Okay I need to call him."
I called Victor but he didn't answer. I didn't know how to get home. It was late but I was waiting for Victor. That's when Ian came to me.
"Do you need a ride?" Ian asked me.
When Ian was standing there and acted like nothing happened. Like he never made any move towards me and now was hanging out with other girls. I couldn't help but be jealous. And be a little child.
"Don't you have other people to accompany you?" I replied.
"As you see I'm alone." Ian said.
"Mhm." I said.
"If you don't wanna stand forever, come with me." Ian insisted.
But I replied nothing, I was silent.
"I don't care." Ian said and went to his car.
I looked for Victor one last time but he wasn't anywhere. I had no other choice, So I went with Ian. Ian was driving. My heart was pounding so loud I was scared he would notice. Now that I actually admitted to myself how I felt about him… I was even more nervous around him. Shit why did he have to be so beautiful? That wasn't fair. And why did he always be there for me, just to be a complete asshole afterwards. But then be so gentle and sweet again. How could anyone even have a chance to resist someone like him.
"I understand that it must be hard to not look at me. But please try atleast" Ian said.
Damn he found out. Meanwhile some vampire hunters were planning to kill Ian.
In the evening, Victor came. 
"Where have you been!?
 You were supposed to get me." I asked angrily.
"Oh shit.
 I'm so sorry! It took longer than planned and then I completely forgot about this. Liz, I'm really sorry. This won't happen again! I promise." Victor apologized.
"It's okay." I forgave.
"How did you get home?" Victor asked me.
I thought about lying. But then why should I. It's not like something happened.
"Ian took me." I answered.
"That was nice of him." Victor said with a smile. And unexpected.
"You're not… angry?" I asked.
"Why?" Victor said.
"Because you don't like him." I said.
"Look, I know I've been pretty childish about Ian. That was pure jealous of me. I'm sorry for that too." Victor said.
"Victor, what's wrong with you?" I asked.
"I guess I just realised that he might be okay. I'll change." Victor replied and went inside the bathroom.
That night some vampire hunters broke Ian's house windows and went inside the house. Ian fought with some hunters and then he went to Dimitri's room to check him. But Ian saw Dimitri was already dead. And then so many hunters came and trapped Ian. I had no idea what's going on with him.
