Chapter 04:

After the short session with Arthur yesterday, we had dinner, their kitchen was probably the same size as my bedroom and Alaina's bedroom combined. The food was delicious, Fel discussed a few more things about this and that then around 9pm, I excused myself and went to bed. Matt suggested a movie night but I politely declined. He told me where the movie room is, in case I changed my mind.

Last night was not the best sleep, even tho the pillow cases were silk, the mattress very soft plus very comfy. I think my body is adjusting to the new environment again.

I had to call in for work earlier, making up an excuse that I was at my grandmother's house, taking care of her since she is sick. It was not a total lie, Fel looks like my grandma.

It's now 6 in the morning, which means after a couple of hours, I would meet my etiquette teacher. Forcing myself out of bed, I went to the bathroom, did my business, took a bath, brushed my teeth, changed my pajamas with the clothes Bree brought in last night.

Once all set, I went my merry way to the kitchen. Bree and Kate came in right after I took a bath, said they needed to do their job.

The kitchen was all modern design. With white marble top, of course and wooden bar stools, painted white, the legs were black. Complete with all appliances. Cupboards are white too white gold handles matching the lacy curtains at the window at the sink, showcasing the beautiful view outside.

Surprising enough, Jason is cooking some fried chicken, mashed potato and some asparagus.

"Morning JayJay, why you cooking?" I asked, taking a seat on one of the bar stool

"JayJay?" he asked as he handed me a plate filled with delicious food. "What do you mean, 'why you cooking?'"

"I thought you have chefs and butlers or cooks or whatever you call them."

"This is the best mashed potato I ever had, like seriously, what kind of sorcery is this?" I stuffed my mouth with more food.

He smiled, "Thanks. And yeah, we do have cooks, but we only call for them when there are special occasions, Felomina said it is best if we don't rely on them too much"

"Yeah, that makes sense. But seriously, this is my new favorite dish".

He only smiled and began eating his own food. It was a little bit awkward at first, not gonna lie. But somehow the longer I stay around them, it feels...ok, safe even.

Looks isn't the only thing deceiving, human emotions too. That's why it's best to remain cautious and alert as well. That way we don't overstep any line or boundaries.

"So, how'd you meet Fel? Is she your aunt or something?" I asked

"Sort of.  She took us in when our parents died... ten years ago." He answered his voice growing quiet at the end

Losing someone dear to you is the worst pain you could ever feel. Like a piece of you that was present when you were together died along with them.

"Oh, I'm sorry. It must've been hard, and it probably still is. But I'm sure, where ever they are, they are happy and at peace, and they are very proud of you."

"Thanks." Silence came, a little bit awkward if you ask. At this point, we both were done with our food.

"Anyway, you seem to be taking this whole adoption and moving out pretty well"

"Meh. I mean, yeah.  It's not like I have someone waiting for me or home to go back to." I admitted. It hurts but it's the truth and I am glad that someone wants to take me in.
