⭐️CHAPTER NINE⭐️

Start from the beginning

Sang-woo took a deep breath as he got the switchblade ready, a drop of sweat already running down his cheek. He knocked on the door as if to tell the guard they were ready to come out. He gripped the blade tightly as the door swung open. Almost immediately, he lunged at the guard, sinking the blade into his neck as he started to shoot at Sang-woo. With that crazy look in his eyes, Sang-woo repeatedly stabbed at the guard's neck, causing him to drop to the floor.

Hearing the sound of a body against the ground made Gi-hun assume the worst as he held his hands up to his mouth to keep quiet. He heard footsteps approaching and did the only thing he could think of; he got up on the toilet and jumped into the vent, ready to climb inside and look for Hwa-young. But he felt a hand grab his ankle and pull him back down, making him freak out. Sang-woo swung Gi-hun around and Gi-hun sighed in relief.

"I thought you were gone.." he said, his voice breaking a bit. Sang-woo chuckled.

"I wouldn't leave you that easily." He replied. Gi-hun shot him a look, referring to when Sang-woo nearly outed himself because he lost. "Don't look at me like that." Was all he said, knowing what Gi-hun meant.

"So what's next? Hwa-young is probably too far now." Gi-hun said. Sang-woo let out a light sigh.

"I do have a plan...but for now it's gonna require me to leave you with Hwa-young for a while." He replied, looking into the older male's eyes.

Before Gi-hun could say anything, Sang-woo went back to the guard's body and started stripping him of his uniform. He returned to Gi-hun and judging by how Sang-woo started to exchange outfits, Gi-hun knew what was going on.

"What if you don't come back..? There's only one of you and..hundreds of them." He said, grabbing onto Sang-woo's shoulder. Sang-woo looked up at the worried man.

"I'll be fine. I'm pretty sure their masks mean something. Circles usually bring the bodies out, triangles are in charge of eliminating players, and squares seem to call the shots around here. If I can get rid of three squares and two more triangles, we'll have weapons and power over the other guards. It may also give us easy access to the guy that's running this shit show now." Sang-woo explained as he finished changing.

Gi-hun's heart was racing. It was such a dangerous plan but he himself couldn't come up with anything better. It seemed like their best bet. Before Sang-woo could put the mask on, Gi-hun pulled him in, their faces nearly colliding until Gi-hun turned his head and rested his chin of Sang-woo's shoulder in a tight hug.

"If you die Cho Sang-woo, so help me I'll-"

"I'll be okay. I promise." Sang-woo cut him off, gently pulling away from the other and gently pecking his lips. "I'll take you guys back to the main room and then get started with the plan. I'll try and get it all done by bedtime and then come back for you. Until then, please stay alive." He said, looking into Gi-hun's eyes as Hwa-young plopped back down into the bathroom stall.

"What'd I miss?" She asked quite awkwardly. Sang-woo explained the plan to her as he put the mask on and guided them back to the main room.

"What did you find?" Gi-hun asked the younger girl.

"Well for one thing; you were right about the next game. Tons of Dalgona is being made. I also found where the guards sleep so that could be helpful to our plan. But best of all, I found some really large room, pretty dark in there. A bunch of those pink guys were sitting at computers. Behind them was all the pictures we took when we came in and some guy dressed in all black watching the cameras. He wore a mask so I couldn't see who it was." She said in a low tone in case anyone was around to hear.

"That could be the guy we're after." Gi-hun said as they stopped in their tracks. They had arrived at the door leading to the main room. Sang-woo gave Gi-hun the switchblade and turned to look at him.

"Hold onto that. You may need it at any time. Especially if they decide to play that special game before tug of war." Sang-woo told him before letting them inside. Hwa-young raised an eyebrow.

"Special game?" She asked, clearly afraid.

"I'll explain everything on our way to the next game." Gi-hun replied.

- SQUID GAME: GAME OVER -

Sang-woo stood amongst some of the other triangle guards in the colorful staircase room. He saw another guard across the way and kept his eyes on them. He gripped the gun strapped around him and waited for the perfect moment to strike. There were others standing at almost every other corner, so he had to be careful.

The guard he set his sights on turned away for a brief moment as he spoke with another. The opportunity was even better than originally planned. Quietly raising his gun, gunshots could be heard as both the guards of the same status dropped to the ground. He let out a low chuckle as he hid behind the doorway that would lead to another staircase. It was clear the other guards were alerted by the gunshots as they ran to aid the deceased guards. Sang-woo smiled to himself.

So far, everything was already going according to plan.
