"Oh, dear, you've scraped your knee!" Salad ran down the slim hallway to the washroom, getting a bandaid for my bloody knee.
"How did this happen?" He said in a soft, hushed tone.  He kneeled down and unwrapped the bandaid, placing it onto the scrape.
"....you left the mirror in the bathroom..."
There was a brief pause of silence before he was able to process what I'd meant by that.
"Oh...bother!....it frightened you I...I presume? " Salad shook his head disappointed in himself. "I'll remove it p...promptly."
As he started off back to the washroom he turned back to look at me, he placed his hands on my shoulders softly, his features settled, his garnet eyes looked into mine, a hint of seriousness and worry I'd never seen those eyes possess. "Glass Mother didn't provoke you now, did she?" He asked slowly.
"No...I ran as soon as I realized...."
Salad nodded, the worried expression still prominent. He cupped the right side of my face with one hand. It seemed as if he would say something any minute, although his grip loosened, as his hand slid down off of my face softly, he headed back to the washroom. "Alright then." He responded, "I shall be back. Stay where you are, no matter what you may hear, or there'll be heavens to pay."

After a bit of time had passed I heard immense bickering and carrying on coming from the washroom, Kylie came scurrying over to me, Hubert in her arms. "It's crazy over there, (y/n). Salad told me to bring Hubert over here away from all of that."
We stood by each-other, taking in the sheer terror of hearing glass mothers retched voice, it screeched like nails on a chalkboard.
"Where have your little companions gotten to???" I heard a voice similar to Salad's tease.
"Mother would like both of them."
"Well, she shan't have them."
We heard Salad state sharply.
"Both of you shan't."
I tried to rush over to him, before I could even take a single step, Kylie took hold of my arm, jolting me back.
"I also promised him I'd keep you in here."
I relaxed my body into her grasp.
"So I suppose I'm not going anywhere anytime soon?"
Kylie just simply nodded in response, she sat herself  on the couch near the radio.
"Let's see if we can get this working today..."
Kylie twisted and turned the nobs, nothing but static.
I grabbed some of the circular batteries and dropped them into it and she resumed turning the nobs.
"Ugh, come on Roger!!" I muttered under my breath.
It started to screech loudly, it roared at us with a brittle, " HOW MANY TIMES HAVE I TOLD YOU?! CLEAN THIS HOUSE UP AT ONCE! ITS FILTHY!!"

"Oh, shit." I mouthed.
The radio started swearing and saying unspeakable things, the remarks scratched at our eardrums vigorously. Kylie covered Hubert's ears almost immediately, blocking out the nasty words from the radio.

Salad came rushing into the living room with the medium sized mirror, glass brother's words echoed throughout the home along with the radio's. He quickly got to his knees and started smashing the cabinet mirror, his blood staining the broken glass shards.
"Roger! Quiet you!" He demanded to his radio. He then got himself up, pushing me out of the way quickly.
"Oh....oh....I'm about to be jolly cross with you, Roger!" Salad spoke harshly.
"Y...you're permitted to say such horrible things at me...R....Roger, but you shan't display such n...nonsense to (y/n). I won't tolerate such things in my home!!"

"HoW wHiMsIcAl Of  YoU tO aSsUmE i'D LIsTeN tO yOu!!!" The radio screeched.
"Oh enough of that!!" Salad Fingers whacked the radio off of its table, producing a load crash onto the cement flooring. Shards of the radio flew into every direction.
"You shan't speak to her that way." He mumbled lightly under his breath.
I came closer to Salad and put an arm around his shoulder, he quivered at the touch.
" you alright...?" I asked him softly.
There was a brief period of silence. Salad took a few steady breaths, still getting used to speaking to things that could speak for themselves.
"Quite. ....A...are you alright?" He turned around to face me, his red glimmering eyes glanced down into mine. I swear I could get lost in those breathtaking orbs for eternity.
I threw my arms around him. "Yeah, thank you...."
He lightly shook under my grasp, a smile quickly erupted from his face.

Salad turned his head to the side and saw Kylie out of the corner of his eye, hugging his puppet close to her, nearly crying.
"My! What's put you into such a bother?" Salad asked the girl who appeared to be in distress.
Kylie shook her head, silence filled the shack with the only sound able to be heard was the brittle wind outside that swept across the wastelands.

My head followed suit as I left his side and made my way over to her.
"Kylie, what's up?..."
"....Hubert..."
That name struck me like thousands of tiny little nails pelting through my chest.
Hubert was her dearest companion here in these wastelands, he couldn't talk back to her and nor was he able to return mutual feelings. Yet, here I was with Salad getting all mushy right in front of her.
"Hubert....Hubert isn't real." She croaked out.
Salad's head perked up.
"Then I think it's about time he grows up a little, he will be a real boy."
With that salad gently took the puppet out of her grasp and headed down the cellar stairs.

We heard sewing, stitching and giggles of glee coming from the basement.

"Who's that dazzling dream boat?!!?!"
